He is a recognized expert in solid state and materials chemistry and environmental chemistry. He has active programs in solid state f-element chemistry and nanomaterials science. His current research interests include heavy metal detection and remediation in aqueous environments, ferroelectric nanomaterials, actinide and rare-earth metal sohd slate chemistry, and nuclear non-proliferation. He currently maintains a collaboration in nuclear materials with Los Alamos National Laboratory and a collaboration in peaceful materials science development with the Russian Federal Nuclear Center - VNIIEF, Sarov, Russia, U.S. State Department projects. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and reviews, while presenting over 130 international and national invited lectures on his area of chemistry. Dr. Dorhout currently serves as Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Assistant Vice President for research. He has also served as the Interim Executive Director for the Office of International Programs and as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education for the College of Natural Sciences at Colorado State University. 

Most mammals show one or more of the following elements in F. jaw opening (gape or yawn) plus an elevated head posture and a temporary stillness there may also be specific respiratory and tongue movements plus a degree of nostril closure. The repertoire of F. elements occurs in various combinations, and is conspicuous in Ungulate and Carnivore repertoires (Estes, 1972). One or more of the behaviour elements in F., as in Fig. 7.6(a) to (f) may be present in any one species their separate functions (if any) have not been examined in detail. 

Although catalytic hydrogenation of alkynes can be accomplished in many other ways, this catalytic system was significant because it was the first time an f element complex had been observed to cataly-tically activate hydrogen in homogeneous solution. The result had...

Several mixtures containing one or more of the common elements are possible for the 4 f and 5 f elements, which permit the valid normalized measurement of D as a function of pH. If the absolute error in logj3/or logK y is 30%, we can expect a relative accuracy of the measurement of about 5 %. The respective free energy values (AG° = - RT Ln 3) are accurate to within 0.05 % relative to each other.
