Extrusion compression molding

PVC, PVA, PVAC, Copolymers) organosols forms available including hard and flexible types. Properties are highly dependent on plasticizer used. May be injection, extrusion, compression molded, vacuum formed. Low cost. antistatic sheet and hose, RF gaskets, heat-shrinkable tubing. [Pg.390]

The final product may take any one of a vast multitude of final forms. These include, but are not limited to, construction materials, toys, automotive parts, kitchen aids, industrial parts, sports and recreational equipment, containers of all sizes and description, and an unlimited variety of packaging products for foods, drugs, cosmetics, and other consumer products. The processes that are used to produce or mold or fabricate the final products are also varied and depend on the design and purpose of the product. Some of these processes include extrusion, compression molding, roto-molding, blow molding, sheeting, and films. [Pg.302]

Because of the heterogeneous nature of the mixture, and presence of contaminants, the articles produced should have large cross-sections, so that small imperfections do not hinder the mechanical performance of the products. Products can be manufactured by continuous extrusion, compression molding, or by Klobbie-based intrusion processes. Intrusion process is a cross between conventional injection molding and extrusion. In this, the extruder first works and softens the thermoplastic mixture, which is poured into one of the molds without using screen packs or nozzles. Today s recycling equipments are capable of processing most types of mixed thermoplastic material, even with up to 30 to 40 percent contamination as unmelted polymers or nonpolymer materials such... [Pg.375]

The properties of dense films are often equated with the Intrinsic properties of the bulk polymer. However, this comparison must be made with caution because chain packing, and thus transport properties, may be dependent upon thermal history or solution history during film preparation and upon the attainment of equilibrium prior to characterization. Dense films can be prepared by melt extrusion, compression molding or solution casting,... [Pg.7]

The technological challenge for the material is to on one hand achieve the necessary material properties like electrical conductivity and on the other hand have sufficient flow characteristics which allows for processing by extrusion, compression molding, and injection molding. [Pg.315]

Both neat polyolefins and their blends and composites are commonly processed by blow molding, injection molding, extrusion, compression molding, rotational molding, and thermoforming. The final materials can be produced as bulk materials, fibers, and thin films. [Pg.3]

Processing methods include extrusion, compression molding, rotomolding, blow molding, and liquid and powder coating. [Pg.405]

The blends are designed for injection molding, but extrusion, compression molding, or thermoforming can also be used. They show good process- ability, high strength, modulus, and HDT... [Pg.2188]

There are many properties to consider when developing a new UHMWPE material for implant applications. The characteristics of the UHMWPE powder may be measured to verify that there are not variations in different manufacturing lots. After consolidation, when the polyethylene powder is compressed into a solid slab of material via ram extrusion, compression molding, or other techniques including isostatic pressing, manufacturers will test the solid polyethylene slab to determine the quality of the consolidation and to determine if any deleterious effects have occurred. Highly crosslinked UHMWPE is commonly used now, whereby the polyethylene slab is exposed to radiation, which forms chemical bonds between polymer chains. Several analytical techniques have been developed to assess if the material has been exposed to enough radiation to improve the desirable properties of the UHMWPE,... [Pg.355]
