Ethylsulfuric acid

Ather-prober, m. ether tester, -saure, /. ether acid (compound which is both an ether and an acid) lampic acid (06s.i. -schicht,/. ether layer, -schwefelsaure, /. alkylsulfuric acid, specif, ethylsulfuric acid, -schwingtmg, /. vibration of the ether, ethereal vibration. [Pg.36]

In view of previous violent or explosive reactions, heating of di- and tri-nitroaryl compounds with alkalies, ammonia or O -ethylsulfuric acid salts in autoclaves should be avoided. [Pg.347]

Methylsulfuric acid is an oily water-soluble liquid. It is a strong irritant to skin, eyes, and mucous tissue. Ethylsulfuric acid is likewise an oily liquid and a strong tissue irritant. Sodium ethylsulfate is a hygroscopic white crystalline solid. [Pg.373]

Ethylsulfuric acid is monobasic according to Streckcr s (or Gcrhardt s) rule it must be monobasic if alcohol is taken as neutral. [Pg.109]

Phcnylsulfuric acid is monobasic like ethylsulfuric acid the rule leads to this conclusion if one considers carbolic acid [phenol] as neutral, as phenyl alcohol, if one assumes its basicity to be zero, as in alcohol. [Pg.109]

Derivation Interaction of barium hydroxide and ethylsulfuric acid. [Pg.123]

Preparation of Alkyl Halides from Olefins. There are two general methods for the synthesis of alkyl halides (1) by the interaction of an alcohol with a halogen hydride—a procedure that may reasonably be discussed under esterification or halogenation and, also, under the Friedel-Crafts synthesis when a metal halide is used to catalyze the reactions— and (2) by the addition of a halogen hydride to an unsaturated hydrocarbon. This reaction may be catalyzed by metal halides and by sulfuric acid. In the latter instance, the ethylsulfuric acid first formed is converted to the halide by gaseous chlorine or chlorine liberated in situ by action of sulfuric acid on a halide. [Pg.243]

Synonyms monoethyl sulfate sulfuric acid, monoethyl ester ethylsulfuric acid ethyl sulfate sulfovinic acid. [Pg.871]
