Quatemized imidazolines with an amido moiety are suitable formulations for general oil and gas field applications. The synthesis of such compounds is detailed in the literature [1218]. For aqueous systems that contain sulfide compounds, a mixture has been described [262] that consists of an aqueous solution of an alcohol such as diethylene glycol monobutyl ether, butyl cellosolve, additional orthophosphoric acid, a fatty acid (from tall oil), substituted imidazoline, an ethoxylated fatty diamine (polyamines such as ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, etc.), and a molybdate compound. [Pg.96]

Fatty Acid Esters. Defoamers that are more environmentally acceptable than convential products are based on fatty acid esters of hydroxy alcohols, such as sorbitan monooleate [1908] or sorbitan monolaurate in combination with diethylene glycol monobutyl ether as a cosolvent [451]. These defoamer compositions are as effective as conventional materials, for example, those based on acetylenic alcohols are less toxic, especially to marine organisms, and are readily biodegradable. The defoamer compositions are used in water-based hydrocarbon well fluids during oil/gas well drilling, completion, and workover, especially in marine conditions. [Pg.322]

The amount of added water required for desalting may be minimized by adding a chemical emulsion breaker to the crude that is capable of displacing the surface-active components from the brine droplets. Quatemized carboxylic-sulfonic acid salts, shown in Figure 22-9, are useful for desalting [1791]. Preferably, the chemical emulsion breaker is used in combination with a delivery solvent, such as diethylene glycol monobutyl ether. [Pg.340]

Mixing of the crystalline ingredients of oxidant, fuel elastomer binder (butadiene-2-methyl-5 vinyl-pyridine copolymer plasticized with the formal of diethylene glycol monobutyl ether) 26% by vol is done in a sigma blade mixer. The completed mix is blocked in a hydraulic press to form a chge suitable for extrusion. The extruded strand is cut into grain blanks which are cured at... [Pg.374]
