Ethanol ester

Fig. 1. Biodegradation of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) by Pasteurella multocida Sa in the presence of ethanol. Ester hydrolysis of DMT involves a transesterification of mono-methyl terephthalate (MMT), and the formation of monoethyl terephthalate (MET). Fig. 1. P.Y.173, an isoindolinone pigment, affords somewhat dull, greenish yellow shades. It shows average fastness to organic solvents, especially to alcohols (ethanol), esters (ethyl acetate), and ketones (including methylethylketone and cyclohexanone). Its solvent resistance equals step 3 on the 5 step scale. P.Y.173 is almost completely to completely fast to mineral spirits and xylene. [Pg.415]

The workers were applying a low-volatile 2, t,5-T butoxy-ethanol ester formulation diluted with fuel oil at 3 gal/100 gal (2% 2,U,5-T acid equivalent). The spray was applied selectively to the lower 3 to U feet of trees and brush in a utility right-of-way using hand-pressurized backpack sprayers (2.5 gal capacity). The applicators wore short-sleeved shirts open at the neck, long pants, no gloves and no hat. One of the backpacks leaked as evidenced by soaking of the applicator s clothing at the lower back. [Pg.138]

The important thing concerning volatility at various temperatures is the relative amount of material in the atmosphere at the different temperatures. If one knows the latent heat of vaporization, the tendency of the material to vaporize can be calculated from Equation 3. If we now consider preparations of derivatives whereby vapor loss can be reduced, it is immediately apparent that the latent heat of vaporization must be increased. This can be done with the phenoxyacetic acid compounds in preparing the so-called low volatile esters as represented by the butoxy-ethanol ester as illustrated in Table II. Determinations of the ratio of the latent heat of vaporization of the butoxyethanol ester to that of the isopropyl ester indicated a value of about 2. [Pg.82]

Some esters of long-chain saturated fatty acids are aggregation pheromone beetles. The ethanol-ester of 4-methyloctanoic acid is, for instance, a commercialized aggregation pheromone (Oryctalure ) used to control the coconut rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros) (Morin et al., 1996). American palm weevil (Rhynchphorus palmarum) is attracted by the aggregation pheromone 6-methyl-2-hepten-4-ol. The pheromone has been tried for control of the weevil and is sold under the names Rhyncopherol and Rhynkolure . [Pg.151]

Poly(vinyl acetate) is soluble in a wide range of solvents. It is soluble at room temperature in aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene and toluene chlorinated hydrocarbons such as carbon tetrachloride, chloroform and dichloroethylene lower alcohols such as methanol and ethanol esters such as ethyl acetate and butyl acetate and ketones such as acetone and methyl isobutyl ketone. The polymer is resistant to greases and oils. [Pg.108]
