Graphite-Epoxy Composite Modified with Gold Nanoparticles (NanoAu-GEC) as Electrochemical Transducer... [Pg.87]

Liquid rubbers In order to improve the flexibihty of short glass fiber-reinforced epoxy composites, Kaynak et al. [53] modified the epoxy resin matrix with hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) liquid mbber. A silane coupling agent was also used to improve the interfacial adhesion between glass fibers and epoxy matrix. However, Humpidge et al. [54] reported some unique processing problems for the resulting pasty mixmres when short textile fibers were incorporated in a hquid mbber medium. [Pg.354]

To assess the effect of elastomer degradation on composite performance, additional composites were fabricated with the same 121°C cure epoxy without any addition of the elastomer (211. The expansion behavior of the modified epoxy composite was similar to the toughened material. For electron doses less than 10 rads the CTE of the toughened and untoughened composites were essentially the same which suggests that the epoxy matrix and not the elastomeric component controls the thermal expansion behavior. [Pg.250]

The cure reactions, the viscosity-time-temperature profile, the processing conditions, the resultant epoxy chemical and physical structure, and the mechanical response of a C-fiber/TGDDM-DDS cured epoxy composite are modified by the presence of a BF3-amine complex catalyst within the prepreg. These factors also will be modified... [Pg.7]

The physical properties of systems having imide groups incorporated with epoxy resin was not seen until much later. Researchers in Korea performed microscopic analysis of commercially available polyetherimide (ULTEM1000) modified epoxy resins [40]. In their work, electron micrographs of the systems showed a two phase system even though their systems were limited to polyimide contents of less then 10 wt%. Compatibilizing polyesterimides with polyetherimides in order to fabricate in situ epoxy composites was addressed by Seo et al. [41]. [Pg.111]

The epoxy composite is etched and activated by processes derived from those used in decorative work but modified quite specifically for the application (which is known as through hole plating ). In the early stages the geometry was found to present difficulties and it was necessary to evolve special solutions for depositing copper into the holes. [Pg.188]

Novel hydroxyurethane modifiers (HUM) for cold-cured epoxy composite materials were synthesized. It is established that the compositions with HUM demonstrate a significant increase in the speed of the curing process, a nontrivial increase in abrasion resistance, and a marked improvement in strength properties. The HUM, which possesses a wide range of hydrogen bonds, is embedded in an epoxy polymer network without a direct chemical interaction. [Pg.263]

The modifying performance of cycloaliphatic monoepoxides in the curing processes of cycloaliphatic diepoxy compounds was described in [75]. ACECs are very efficient as modifiers of epoxyamine [76] and epoxynovolak [77-79] resins. The search for reactive diluents for epoxy compositions was initially directed towards an improvement of the processing characteristics, in particular the viscosity suppression, whereas the increase in mechanical strength and heat resistance was considered to be the result of the improved processing character-... [Pg.103]
