Epididymis weight

No studies were located regarding reproductive effects in animals after oral exposure to 1,3,5-TNB. Reproductive toxicity in the form of reduced testes and epididymis weight was consistently observed in rats exposed to a single oral dose (ranging from 25 to 50 mg/kg) of 1,3-DNB (Blackburn et al. 

In a 13-week subchronic study in male Fischer 344/N rats, testis and epididymis weights were decreased at diethanolamine doses of 1200 ppm or more in the drinking water (Melnick et al, 1994a). Reduced sperm count and motility as well as degeneration of the seminiferous tubules were found at a dose of 2500 ppm. 

In mice administered 100 mg/kg daily of a concentrated turmeric extract for 90 days, a significant increase in heart, lung, and caudae epididymis weights were observed (Qureshi et al. 1992). 

These findings suggest that cat urine may act as a stress factor resulting in a diminished body weight, enlargement of the adrenal gland, and decreased epididymis weight. It... 

The fact that the decline in body and epididymis weights in males treated with cat urine corresponds with an increase in the relative weight of the adrenal gland suggests that the mechanism causing changes in reproductive development involves the adrenal/pitui-tary axis (Selye, 1950). Cat urine could thus be considered a stress factor. Evidence supporting this idea is that in rats a response to predator odor (extract from fox feces) involves an increase in corticosterone levels (Vemet-Maury, Polak Demael, 1984).
