Physical properties epichlorohydrin

BPEI and LPEI were cross-linked with different dihalogen derivatives, formaldehyde, epichlorohydrin [55-73]. The cross-linking reaction allows to change the chemical and physical properties of the resins, e.g. the swelling capacity which is important for complex and adduct formation. Moreover, it is possible to vary the pore size which is also relevant in the ligand-metal complex formation. [Pg.181]

The reaction of polyols with epichlorohydrin produces polyglycidyl ethers, such as butanediol diglycidyl ether. These are only slightly less effective viscosity reducers than butyl glycidyl ether, but they are less volatile and contribute less to worker irritation problems. They also produce less loss in physical properties. [Pg.120]

Epoxies were first prepared in early 1930 They have become one of the most favored polymeric material used for electronics. Their unique chemical and physical properties such as excellent chemical and corrosion resistances, super electrical and physical properties, excellent adhesion, insulation, low shrinkage properties, and reasonable material cost have made epoxy resins very attractive in electronic applications 63,64., 65,66) jjjg commercial preparation of epoxies are based on bisphenol A, which upon reaction with epichlorohydrin produces bisglycidyl ethers. (See Fig. 15). The repetitive group, n, varies from zero (liquid) to approximately 30 (hard solid). The reactants ratio (bisphenol A versus epichlorohydin) determines the final viscosity... [Pg.79]

Poly(epichlorohydrin-co-ethylene oxide) has a well-balanced profile of physical properties together with a high resistance to solvents and oils at moderate temperatnres. For these reasons it has formd many applications in the aerospace and automotive industries. In addition, this copolymer has attracted attention in the field of batteries and electrical devices, mainly because, when complexed with an inorganic salt, the elastomer can be used... [Pg.126]

The development and optimisation is described of a new curing system to replace lead-based compounds used in epichlorohydrin elastomers currently used in automotive applications. The system is based on 2,4,6-trimercapto-1,3,5-triazine and dialkyldithiophosphate, which is shown to produce a scorch-safe curing system and which confers excellent physical and ageing properties on epichlorohydrin rubbers. Trials are conducted in formulations for multilayer fuel hoses. 9 refs. [Pg.52]

Epoxy resins are a class of polymers that can be crossllnked to yield materials with a wide range of physical and chemical properties. Usually, linear, low-molecular weight products, known as pre-poljnners or first-stage polymers are polyethers with reactive epoxide endgroups. The most commonly used prepolymer is prepared by the condensation or step-growth polymerization of epichlorohydrin and bisphenol A as shown by the following equation ... [Pg.28]
