EPA identification numbers

Any generator of hazardous waste must obtain from EPA or DHS an EPA Identification Number. This number must be used on all official documents involving waste generation, transportation, treatment, storage, and/or disposal. This number must also appear on all required reports. A generator shall not offer his hazardous waste to a transporter or to an operator of a treatment, storage, and/or disposal facility who does not have an EPA Identification Number. [Pg.141]

The EPA I.D. Number is a 12-digit number assigned to facilities covered by hazardous waste regulations under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). Facilities not covered by RCRA are not likely to have an assigned I.D. Number. If your facility is not required to have an I.D. Number, enter not applicable. NA, in box a. If your facility has been assigned EPA Identification Numbers, you must enter those numbers in the spaces provided in Section 3.8. [Pg.35]

Enter in the spaces provided, the name and address of each location (other than POTWs) to which you ship or transfer wastes containing toxic chemicals. Do not include locations to which you ship the toxic chemical for recycle or reuse, tf you do not ship ortransfer wastes containing toxic chemicals to offsite locations, enter not applicable, NA in the off-site location name line of 2.1. Also enter the EPA Identification Number (RCRA I.D. Number) for each such location if known to you. This number may be found on the Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest, which is required by RCRA regulations. Also indicate in the space provided whether the location is owned or controlled by yourfacility or your parent company. If thefacility does not have a RCRA 1.0. number, enter not applicable, NA, in this space. [Pg.36]

The manifest must contain the name, address, telephone number and EPA identification number of the generator, transporter and designated receiving facility, and description, quantity, hazardous waste ID number, and hazard class of waste. [Pg.22]

EPA identification numbers must be obtained for each site that generates small or large quantities of hazardous wastes. Also, a permit must be obtained from the EPA for storage, treatment, or disposal of the waste on site. The RCRA/Superfund hotline or an EPA regional office may be contacted for all information. The wastes may be periodically shipped off from the premises... [Pg.904]

Generators must dispose of wastes at facilities permitted to handle the waste. Generators must obtain an EPA identification number prior to disposal. [Pg.738]

Similar to the hazardous waste activity notification requirements in RCRA, with limited exceptions, the generator, transporter, commercial storer, and disposer of PCB waste must have provided prior notice of such activity to EPA on EPA Eorm 7710-53 and have received an EPA identification number. Eor each generator storing PCB waste, a separate notification must be submitted to EPA for each PCB storage facility each such facihty will be issued a unique identification number by EPA. If the facihty aheady has received a RCRA generator identification, it is the practice of EPA to use the same number for purposes of PCB waste activity. [Pg.377]

If the generator intends to initiate a shipment of hazardous waste, an EPA identification number must be assigned by the EPA Administrator. [Pg.452]

Biennial reports must be prepared by each generator initiating shipments of hazardous waste away fiom the facrlily. These must be prepared on EPA Form 8700-13A, submitted by March 1 of each even-numbered year, and must cover the previous calendar year. The report must provide (a) the EPA identification number, name and address of each facility to which waste was shipped during the year, (b) the name and EPA identification number of each transporter used during the year, and (c) a description, EPA identification waste number and amount of each hazardous waste shipped off-site. This information must be identified further with the identification number for each site to which it was shipped. The report must be signed by the generator or an authorized representative to certify that the report is correct. [Pg.457]

Requirements for multiple EPA identification numbers for a single campus create an unnecessary administrative burden. [Pg.2]

The committee recommends that the Environmental Protection Agency allow the use of one EPA identification number for aU chemical waste generated on a single campus of an educational institution. [Pg.2]

Generators must obtain an EPA identification number, prepare the waste for transport, follow accumulation and storage requirements, manifest hazardous waste, and adhere to detailed record-keeping and reporting requirements. Although conditionally exempt small-quantity generators are partially exempt from these requirements, they must stOl... [Pg.211]

A facility is a limited-quantity generator if it produces less than 100 kilograms of hazardous waste per month. If, however, a limited-quantity generator stores more than 1,000 kilograms of hazardous waste on-site at any time, it becomes a small-quantity generator. A limited-quantity generator is not required to obtain an EPA identification number, but most licensed waste haulers will require an EPA identification number to ship the waste off-site. [Pg.321]

Only limited-quantity generators are exempt from most RCRA regulations. Other generators must have an EPA identification number. Some states may have regulations more stringent than those of the federal government. The practitioner should check with the state EPA if there are any questions about a given facility. [Pg.321]
