Obtaining an EPA Identification Number

A facility is a limited-quantity generator if it produces less than 100 kilograms of hazardous waste per month. If, however, a limited-quantity generator stores more than 1,000 kilograms of hazardous waste on-site at any time, it becomes a small-quantity generator. A limited-quantity generator is not required to obtain an EPA identification number, but most licensed waste haulers will require an EPA identification number to ship the waste off-site. [Pg.321]

A large-quantity generator is a facility that produces 1,000 kilograms of hazardous waste or one kilogram of acutely hazardous waste per month. Large-quantity generators are allowed to accumulate hazardous waste for 90 days. If the hazardous waste must be transported more than 200 miles, the generator is allowed to accumulate hazardous waste for 180 days (U.S. EPA, 1991). [Pg.321]

Only limited-quantity generators are exempt from most RCRA regulations. Other generators must have an EPA identification number. Some states may have regulations more stringent than those of the federal government. The practitioner should check with the state EPA if there are any questions about a given facility. [Pg.321]

Generators must dispose of wastes at facilities permitted to handle the waste. Generators must obtain an EPA identification number prior to disposal. [Pg.738]

Generators must obtain an EPA identification number, prepare the waste for transport, follow accumulation and storage requirements, manifest hazardous waste, and adhere to detailed record-keeping and reporting requirements. Although conditionally exempt small-quantity generators are partially exempt from these requirements, they must stOl... [Pg.211]

Used oil transporters must apply for and obtain an EPA Identification Number (EPA Form 8700-12). [Pg.527]

Obtain an EPA identification number and apply for permits to generate, treat, store, or dispose of hazardous waste as appropriate. [Pg.1439]

Any generator of hazardous waste must obtain from EPA or DHS an EPA Identification Number. This number must be used on all official documents involving waste generation, transportation, treatment, storage, and/or disposal. This number must also appear on all required reports. A generator shall not offer his hazardous waste to a transporter or to an operator of a treatment, storage, and/or disposal facility who does not have an EPA Identification Number. [Pg.141]

EPA identification numbers must be obtained for each site that generates small or large quantities of hazardous wastes. Also, a permit must be obtained from the EPA for storage, treatment, or disposal of the waste on site. The RCRA/Superfund hotline or an EPA regional office may be contacted for all information. The wastes may be periodically shipped off from the premises... [Pg.904]

LQHUW accumulate a total of 5000kg or more of universal waste at any time. The designation as an LQHUW is retained for the remainder of the calendar year in which the 5000-kg threshold was exceeded, and may be re-evaluated in the following calendar year. LQHUW must comply with the same requirements as SQHUW, as well as a few additional ones. They must also maintain basic records documenting shipments received at the facility and shipments sent from the facility, must obtain an U.S. EPA identification (ID) number, and must comply with stricter employee training requirements. [Pg.446]

See 1, Table II) Under RCRA, generators of hazardous waste must obtain an identification number from the appropriate EPA Regional Office (EPA Form 3510-1). [Pg.233]
