Various highly crosslinked polymers, with slightly different properties, such as Envi-Chrom P, Lichrolut EN, Isolute ENV or HYSphere-1, have been applied in environmental analysis, mainly for polar compounds. For phenol, for instance, which is a polar compound, the recoveries (%) when 100 ml of sample was analysed were 5, 16 and 6 for PLRP-s, Envi-Chrom P and Lichrolut EN, respectively (70). 

A multiresidue method based on offline SPE mode with GC/MS, LC/UV/DAD. and LC/MS was developed in Europe for monitoring pesticides on the priority list. Various sorbents were tested Isolut Cig, Lichrolut, Envi 18, SDB, OASIS, Envi-chrom. and Envi-carb. The SDB, OASIS, Envi-chrom. and Envi-carb appear to be the most promising for extracting polar compounds, including triazines and their degradation products. ... 

In order to reduce the LOD of the most polar EPA priority phenolic compounds to the required O.lUg/L level, PocuruU et al. [224, 225] suggested, first, to use tetrabutylammonium bromide as an ion-pair reagent enhancing the retention of phenols on PLRP-S and Envi-Chrom P extracting resins. Second, they coupled in series an ultraviolet (LJV) and electrochemical detector to significandy enhance the detection sensitivity toward phenolic water contaminants, including those in tap and river water.
