Entanglement hazards

The legal department should acquaint itself with all local, state, and Federal laws that pertain to the manufacture of the commodity, its transportation and application, atmospheric and stream pollution through the disposal of wastes, and the possibility of claims for injury, death, or disabilities in connection with the production and use of the commodity to be manufactured. The design engineer should be familiar with all such legal entanglements, so that he may advise the legal department on probable hazardous conditions and unsafe practices. [Pg.36]

Devices used to protect the head from injury. These include safety helmets or hard hats that are primarily used to protect the head from falling objects or overhead hazards industrial scalp protectors such as bump caps that protect against striking fixed objects, scalping, or entanglement and caps and hair nets, which are used to prevent the hair from coming in contact with moving machinery or the parts of machinery. [Pg.152]

Ethanol is highly flammable. Corn dust is explosive [54]. Mechanical equipment presents serious entanglement and amputation hazards. Wet milling process involves more dust and mechanical equipment. Wet milling process also has SO2 emission problem, which the dry grind process does not have... [Pg.161]

Safe Use of Machinery Identification of main types of hazard contact (with moving parts, cutting edges, abrasive surfaces) trapping and entanglement-ejection of parts of machine or materials. [Pg.715]

Understands the main hazards and the methods of guarding moving machinery traps, impact, contact, entanglement, projectile. [Pg.717]

Since the mechanical hazard of machinery arises principally from someone coming into contact or entanglement with dangerous components, risk reduction is based on preventing this contact occurring. [Pg.203]

Has safe access been provided to the equipment that requires operator and calibration and maintenance personnel access for normal operations, adjustments, service, calibration, maintenance or repair Have slip, trip, trap, crush, entanglement, fall, bump and cut hazards been minimized ... [Pg.115]

Conpared with the conventional types the numerically controlled machine tools are marked by certain characteristic risk factors. They are typically associated with entangling and cutting hazards caused by unexpected machine movenents or hazards of flying objects in collisions. The potentiality of these hazards has grown for the following reasons ... [Pg.224]
