Enhancer Dehydrating agent

When trimethylorthoformate is utilized as the dehydration agent (Equation 8.), heavies due to Aldol condensation are eliminated. Methyl formate can be easily recovered from the reaction products, but synthetic routes to regenerate trimethylorthoformate are very involved and costly. An advancement to improve trimethylorthoformate synthesis would enhance the attractiveness of the homogeneous oxycarbonylation route to adipic acid. 

Propylene glycol is a good base for many of the combination antibiotic drops. It acts as a dehydrating agent to fungi and enhances the effectiveness of other antifungal medications. Occasionally, a patient may develop a contact dermatitis from this agent. 

The reactants were heated at reflux in m-cresol (200 °C), with boric acid as a dehydrating agent, to obtain aromatic polymers which showed a 10% weight loss at 460-500 C in nitrogen. It has been suggested that the exocyclic carbon-carbon double bond enhances the reactivity of the lactone with diamines. This is supported by the use of relatively low reaction temperatures, and by the high yields and molecular weights obtained. 

Binding of causative agents of enteric infections and their protein toxins by Silics, as well as its antisecretory properties and ability to enhance absorption processes in bowels, give rise to its high efficacy in the treatment for infectious diarrheas. Thus, addition of Silics (at a daily dose of 100-250 mg kg-1) to the basic therapeutic complex makes it possible to accelerate (by 2-3 days) the positive dynamics of symptoms in patients and, as a result, to attain a shortening of their hospital stay. Besides, administration of Silics leads to a decrease in the necessary amounts of agents for dehydration therapy and prevents development of bacteria carrying states (Table 6).
