Engineering disciplines manufacturing

The skills and knowledge of those in all chentical and chentical engineering disciplines are needed for these processes. Additionally, collaboration among the disciplines must be cultivated—especially between researchers who synthesize new chenticals and materials and those who develop new processes to manufacture them. There must be parallel integration of fields, so that discoveries quickly lead to useful technology. In a terrorist attack, a quick response is essential, whether it be decontamination of a site or scale-up of drug or vaccine production. [Pg.8]

In the majority of cases, the application of a computer system to pharmaceutical manufacturing is part of a capital investment involving other items of production plant equipment and a wide range of contracted design, installation, and commissioning activities carried out by appropriate engineering disciplines. [Pg.581]

There is little to conclude at present. Robotics is an infant engineering discipline and yet the manufacturing aspect of robotic implementation is far ahead of any laboratory application. Today s robots are reprogrammable automation, they are far from being cybernauts and are hardly "clever" but their potential as an "arm" for artificial intelligence experiments cannot be overlooked. [Pg.22]

During the twentieth century the chemical and process industry was one of the greatest contributors to improving mankind s quality of life. This contribution arose from the application of chemical engineering to manufacturing products on a wholly new scale. It involved both academic and industrial practitioners in the development of the discipline, which acquired a coherence suited to this period, based initially on the unit operations approach pioneered at MIT. The major achievement of the discipline was in the development of economic and safe processing of materials in bulk, often based on petroleum feedstocks. [Pg.117]

Some terms are used loosely in various engineering disciplines e.g. plastic, rubber. However, they have particular connotations in electrical engineering, especially in the field of cable manufacturing. [Pg.187]

Every new paper or pulp mill project requires individual engineering work. Manufacturing or procurement activities cannot be performed before appropriate engineering activities have been completed. The work in different disciplines must be harmonized to complete the project. [Pg.318]

The analysis is carried out by an inter-disciplinary team, generally recruited from product development, engineering, storage, manufacture, filling, quality assurance and microbiology. According to demand and problem definition, representatives from other disciplines can be co-opted onto the team. [Pg.282]

Lean construction According to the Lean Construction Institute (2011), lean construction is a new way to design and build capital facilities based on success with lean production management in other engineering disciplines which caused a revolution in manufacturing design, supply, and assembly. ... [Pg.289]
