In order to apply SE without restrictions, standards are necessary for instance for model exchange or for enabling reuse or integration of components in third parties architectures. Therefore, the automotive open system architeemre (AUTOSAR) specification has been elaborated for appliance by some companies that develop complex products (e.g. car makers, developers of engine control units, car software, development tools and microcontrollers) [53]. 

Current supply for medium-sized ships is provided by an instrument in the engine control room or the engine room. With large ships, the rectifier should be installed near the anodes so that only cables of small cross-section are required. Formerly, in such cases two protection units independent of each other were used in the engine room and the forecastle. Meanwhile, the anodes were installed in the rear quarter of the ship, even with large tankers, and the poor current distribution had to be tolerated. 

Computer Controller. The computer controller takes inputs of speed, load, and temperature to assist the engine in cold starting and to select the optimal air/fuel trim adjustment for optimal power, fuel economy, and emissions control. The control system uses the sensor signal as a switching device using the logic "rich go lean " or "lean go rich " Sophisticated adjustment logic is incorporated into the control unit to correct the air/fuel mixture... 

Automatic systems for controlling the thickness of the film were introduced in the sixties (automatic adjustments to the jack motors controlling the ultimate nip) and once this had happened it was true no longer to say that the operator had full control of the machine. There was a parallel development, as engineering controls became more accurate, in electronic computers when the latter became available in convenient form it was logical that they should be employed in the collection of operating data and that the various units for automatic control be brought into the same system. The most important factors involved were the control of temperatures in the unit, and of tension in the web.
