En-masse conveyors are compact and totally enclose the bulk material they handle many materials with little particle attrition they can have a L-shaped or a Z-shaped path, therefore... [Pg.1734]

For example, screw and "en masse" conveyors can handle only small lumps. Belt conveyors are useful for long distances but not for high temperatures. Vertical lifts often require bucket elevators. [Pg.52]

En masse conveyors were originally designed to convey materials in the horizontal plane only, but the conveying mode has proven to be effective in vertical conveying also, provided the inlet is kept fed with powder and the trough is enclosed (similar to the action in a flexible screw conveyor, see Chapter 7). [Pg.244]

There are a number of different design features that can be selected to achieve conveying of different materials in an en masse conveyor. There are a number of flight profiles, as can be seen from Figure 6.22. [Pg.244]

When selecting an en masse conveyor, a key consideration is the volumetric throughput of the conveyor, which can be converted to a mass throughput by the use of the appropriate bulk density. [Pg.245]
