Emergency plans/procedures waste

Future infectious hospital waste management plans should include procedures that will deal with emergency situations. Describe three scenarios that could use emergency response procedures. [Pg.522]

The third step is developing different measures which can help to reduce and control the hazards/ risks, such as administrative controls, orientation, training and supervision, waste handling work procedures, emergency planning, and cold protective clothing (Public Services Health and Safety Association, 2011). [Pg.1333]

Improved Operating Procedures 11. Segregate process waste waters from stormwater systems. 12. Optimize the frequency of tank and equipment cleaning. 13. Prevent solids and oily wastes from entering the drainage system. 14. Establish and maintain an emergency preparedness and response plan. [Pg.59]

The employer shall establish and implement an emergency action plan for the entire plant in aeeordance with the provisions of 29 CFR 1910.38(a). In addition, the emergency action plan shall include procedures for handling small releases. Employers covered under this standard may also be subject to the hazardous waste and emergency response provisions contained in 29 CFR 1910.120(a), (p), and (q). [Pg.134]

Housekeeping is the routine care and cleaning that needs to be acted on daily in order for a facility to function safety and properly. In Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulation 29 CFR 1910.38 (b) (3), it states that the employer shall control accumulations of flammable and combustible waste materials and residues so that they do not contribute to a fire emergency. Additionally, housekeeping procedures shall be included in the written fire prevention plan. Additionally, 29 CFR 1926.25 similarly states the need for housekeeping activities at construction locations. Common injuries due to poor housekeeping include slips, trips, and falls. [Pg.157]

Control of accumulation of flammable and combustible waste materials and residues so that they do not contribute to a fire emergency. These housekeeping procedures must be included in the written fire prevention plan. [Pg.344]

Site planning and safety rules must include fire detection provisions, supply and maintenance of fire fighting equipment, control of hot work, emergency procedures in the event of fire, control of smoking on site as needed and prevention of the build-up of flammable materials in work areas and in waste skips. Adequate means of escape and access for emergency vehicles must be allowed for during all stages of construction. [Pg.202]
