System electrostatic field

The first term represents the forces due to the electrostatic field, the second describes forces that occur at the boundary between solute and solvent regime due to the change of dielectric constant, and the third term describes ionic forces due to the tendency of the ions in solution to move into regions of lower dielectric. Applications of the so-called PBSD method on small model systems and for the interaction of a stretch of DNA with a protein model have been discussed recently ([Elcock et al. 1997]). This simulation technique guarantees equilibrated solvent at each state of the simulation and may therefore avoid some of the problems mentioned in the previous section. Due to the smaller number of particles, the method may also speed up simulations potentially. Still, to be able to simulate long time scale protein motion, the method might ideally be combined with non-equilibrium techniques to enforce conformational transitions. [Pg.75]

Equation (18) is valid when the polarizability of the dielectric is proportional to the electrostatic field strength [4]. The operator V in the Cartesian coordinate system has the form V = dldx,dldy,dldz). [Pg.180]

For a quantum mechanical calculation, the single point calculation leads to a wave function for the molecular system and considerably more information than just the energy and gradient are available. In principle, any expectation value might be computed. You can get plots of the individual orbitals, the total (or spin) electron density and the electrostatic field around the molecule. You can see the orbital energies in the status line when you plot an orbital. Finally, the log file contains additional information including the dipole moment of the molecule. The level of detail may be controlled by the PrintLevel entry in the chem.ini file. [Pg.301]

Recent developments in rotary atomization include the use of semiconductive composites (qv) for the rotary cup permitting the constmction of a unit that does not produce an ignition spark when brought close to a grounded workpiece yet has the transfer efficiencies associated with a rotary atomizer. In addition, the use of the semiconductive material softens the electrostatic field and results in less edge buildup and better penetration into recess areas. Other systems use electronic means to effectively prevent arcing to grounded surfaces. [Pg.331]

Electrostatic Technologies, Inc. provide EluidTron electronic fluid treatment systems in various sizes. These items of equipment generate an electrostatic field of between 20,000 and 30,000 volts DC, at very low amperage. [Pg.339]

In general, all electrostatic separator systems contain at least four components (i) a chargingdischarging mechanism (ii) an external electric field (iii) a nonelectrical particle trajectory device and (iv) feed and product collection systems. Depending primarily on the charging mechanism involved, the electrostatic separator systems are classified into three categories (i) free fall separators (ii) high tension separators and (iii) conduction separators. [Pg.183]

If separate D-RESP charge sets are fitted for every single one of the 36 frames, the standard deviation of the electrostatic field generated varies between 3.5 and 5% with respect to the full quantum reference. This accuracy is the best (in the least-squares sense) that can be obtained if the system is modeled with time-dependent atomic point-charges and represents the accuracy limit for a fluctuating point charge model of the dipeptide. [Pg.20]

In order to quantify the importance of polarization effects in describing the electrostatic field of the system we compared this... [Pg.20]

The study was performed on a model system based on the crystal structure of Cdc42-Cdc42GAP complexed with GDP and A1F3 [60], which can be considered a TS mimic of phosphoryl transfer [61, 62], A large model system (Fig. 2.6) was required to properly take into account the effect on the reagents of the electrostatic field of the protein. It comprised all the amino acids directly interacting with the triphosphate moiety, the Mg2+ cation with its own coordination shell, and A1F3 replaced by the PO3 moiety. [Pg.59]

The charge density of dust transported through ducts and the resultant electric fields at the duct Inner walls was monitored by a Monroe Electronics Inc., Model 171 electric fieldmeter. All the electrostatic sampling In the field was performed In circular cross-section ducts. Thus, the electrostatic field Intensity, for this geometry, can be determined from Poisson s equation using the cylindrical coordinate system. [Pg.273]

These external fields can affect the physical properties and reactivity of the molecular systems. Such effects are especially important in ordered crystalline environments such as solid oxides and biological macromolecules [25-28]. These local electrostatic fields play an important role in catalytic functions and in governing the stabilization of many biomolecular systems [29-32]. These environmental effects cause dramatic changes in the reactivity, which can be different from the gas phase. [Pg.368]
