Electrically actuated device

Mechanical force can be more easily controlled using fluid power. The simple use of valves and rotary or linear actuators control speed, direction and force. The simplicity of hydraulic and pneumatic components greatly increases their reliability. In addition, components and overall system size are typically much smaller than comparable electrical transmission devices. [Pg.583]

Electric Squibs (Also known as Electric Igniters, or Electric Actuators). These devices are intended to fire deflagrating expls, such. as a pellet or blasting Bk Pdr (Black Powder), NC (Nitrocellulose), or loose smokeless propellant. [Pg.701]

It signals the control circuitry which fires an electrically actuated blasting device. [Pg.182]

Changes in the impedance of an IPMC may be used to create a self-sensing actuating device [Park et al. (2008)]. An advantage of such a device is that the deformation estimation is an intrinsic property of the actuator, i.e. there is no need to equip separate senors as it can function as a coexisting sensor. The capacitance and the resistance of an IPMC are caused by structural featmes of the Pt electrode particles, such as the space between each particle and the density of the particles. The internal electrical characteristics of the IPMC, especially the resistance and capacitance of the electrodes, are changed with the mechanical deformation of the IPMC. When an IPMC is bent, one electrode surface becomes concave (+), and the other convex (-). [Pg.219]

There are also important discipline interfaces in the case of control valves, motorized control devices (such as electrically actuated valves), and safety and relief valves. The interface is easily managed if appropriate procedures are available from the start as to which discipline will be responsible for what. [Pg.214]
