Each member of the N-Lite Series (National Starch) is aimed at a specific role ia fat replacemeat, ie, N-Lite L for soups and sandwich spreads N-Lite LP for use ia dressiags and dips. The parameterization of MNDO/AM1/PM3 is performed by adjusting the constants involved in the different methods so that the results of HF calculations fit experimental data as closely as possible. This is in a sense wrong. We know that the HF method cannot give the correct result, even in the limit of an infinite basis set and without approximations. The HF results lack electron correlation, as will be discussed in Chapter 4, but the experimental data of course include such effects. This may be viewed as an advantage, the electron correlation effects are implicitly taken into account in the parameterization, and we need not perform complicated calculations to improve deficiencies in fhe HF procedure. However, it becomes problematic when the HF wave function cannot describe the system even qualitatively correctly, as for example with biradicals and excited states. Additional flexibility can be introduced in the trial wave function by adding more Slater determinants, for example by means of a Cl procedure (see Chapter 4 for details). But electron cori elation is then taken into account twice, once in the parameterization at the HF level, and once explicitly by the Cl calculation. 

The necessity for going beyond the HF approximation is the fact that electrons are further apart than described by the product of their orbital densities, i.e. their motions are con-elated. This arises from the electron-electron repulsion operator, which is a sum of ten-ns of the type...

Secondly, the intensity of response for a certain compound from one type of detector is not necessarily the same as that obtained from the other detector. This should not be unexpected, since the two detectors are measuring quite different properties of the analyte, in this case UV absorption at a particular wavelength and how readily it is ionized and fragmented under the conditions employed. These properties are urn-elated. 

In this way the whole elated peak and not just a fraction of it is sampled but sensitivity is sacrificed, since only a snail fraction of the available eluent is injected into the 6C. 

The catalyst layer is the most expensive part of this fuel cell. It is made from a mixture of platinum, carbon powder, and PEM powder, bonded to a conductive carbon fiber cloth. We obtained ours from E-Tek Inc. The cost for an order of their ELAT catalyst cloth sheet includes a setup charge. So get together with others for a larger order if you want to keep costs down. We paid 360 for a piece of ELAT 15.2 centimeters by 15.2 centimeters [6 inches by 6 inches] including the 150 setup charge. This piece provides enough for about twelve disks. Each fuel cell requires two disks of ELAT and one larger disk of PEM to make the sandwich, so you can make six cells from this size...
