The economic reward systems of pharmaceutical care A practice cannof survive wifhouf a revenue sfream. The mosf important revenue source is the cash-paying patient. If a service is of value to a patient, this value will be equated with the transfer of a monefary payment This monefary paymenf can be in fhe form of eifher fee-for-service reimbursement paid directly to the provider by the patient, or as part of a healfh care benefit premium. There will therefore need to be sfandard procedures in place for collecting paymenf for providing pharmaceutical care. 

Within the sociotechnology system, the technology subsystem consists of the devices, tools, equipment, techniques, and the facility needed to produce a product or provide a service and enhance the economic performance of an organization. The social subsystem comprises the employees, at all levels, and the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and needs they bring to the work environment—and the authority structure and the reward system. Although neither Deming nor Juran described what they proposed as a sociotechnical system, a case could be made that their principles, overall, would be a close fit. 

Human relations meant the discovery of the worker as a social animal, desiring affiliation and approval as well as economic rewards, of the importance of informal organization and the less-than-rational character of motivation generally. The factory was depicted as a social system , not just a bureaucracy run along prescribed lines. 

Putting in place a fair policy of incentives/checks and penalties. The desire to reduce errors and violations leads to a desire to maximise transparency while preserving a system of penalties for the most unacceptable cases. A consensus among the social partners on this system of transparency and sanctions is vital to the success of the safety plan. How will the system reward actors who submit reports, who will be involved (the Board and the management should be involved, and so should front-line actors), what are the real criteria defining what is unacceptable, particularly under suboptimal economic conditions in which the enterprise has to take more risks in order to survive All these points must be included and discussed in the safety plan. 

A capitalist ruling class can also be said to exist insofar as a belief in, and the institution of, private property hold sway over such opposed beliefs and institutions as those of communism. Any system of beliefs can act as a kind of front behind which monopolies of force and the ability to manipulate material rewards are hidden.
