Fig. 14.4. Expression of subunits of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex during the development of A suum. Homogenates of different A suum larval stages and adult tissues were immunoblotted with polyclonal antisera prepared against individual subunits of the A suum PDC isolated from adult muscle, as described in detail in Klingbeil etal. (1996). UE, unembryonated egg M, adult body wall muscle p45, E3-binding protein (E3BP). Fig. 14.4. Expression of subunits of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex during the development of A suum. In the mammalian enzymes the interactions are even more complicated since while the El component interacts with the E2 component, the E2 component does not directly interact with the E3 component, rather the information is relayed from E2 to the E3-binding protein (E3BP), which in turn interacts with the E3 component. [Pg.589]

An indirect measure of the concentration of a specific binding protein can be obtained by adding increasing amounts of thyroxine to serum which has been partitioned by electrophoretic means. Saturation, or the maximal binding capacity is a function of the number and capacity of binding sites available [1/mole (013) in the case of TBPA]. The concentration of binding sites is proportional to the amount of thyroxine necessary to saturate the protein. Such methods have been described (010). Reverse-flow techniques can be used to eliminate trailing albumin from the TBG (E3). [Pg.406]
