There are several advantages to the dynamic vapor sorption device. First, any humidity value can be dialed in, whereas salt solutions are not available for every humidity value and some are quite toxic. Second, since the weight is monitored as a function of time, it is clear when equilibrium is reached. Today, pavement surface profile or pavement unevenness (or roughness) is usually measured by rolling devices or by dynamic devices, mounted on a specially designed trailer and pulled by the vehicle or mounted on the test vehicle. 

Rolling devices are used over short road sections for quality control and quality acceptance (QC/QA), while the dynamic devices are used, primarily, for pavement evenness surveys in the longitudinal and, depending on the device used, in the transverse direction. 

Most likely, fuel cell will be a dominant distributed energy resource. The SOFCs are dynamic devices and when connected to the distribution system they will affect its dynamic behavior. Hence, researchers have developed dynamic models for these components (Massardo and Lubelli, 2000 Padulles et al, 2000 Campanari, 2001 Rao and Samuelsen, 2002 Zhu and Tomsovic, 2002).
