Dual drivers

Usually, dual oil pumps are included, so that one pump failure will not shut down the compressor-driver unit. The first or main pump may be driven by electric motor, and the standby steam or gas may be driven by turbine. Any combination is acceptable as long as the selection takes into account the specific local conditions and service reliability. Figures 12-50A-C show an overall assembly, including accessories. [Pg.467]

Figure 6.1 shows the apparatus diagram. The diffusion flame burner consisted of an air plenum with an exit diameter of 22 mm, forced at a Strouhal number of 0.73 (100 Hz) by a single acoustic driver, and a coaxial fuel injection ring of diameter 24 mm, fed by a plenum forced by two acoustic drivers at either 100 Hz (single-phase injection) or 200 Hz (dual-phase injection). The fuel was injected circumferentially directly into the shear layer and roll-up region for the air vortices. In addition, this fuel injection was sandwiched between the central air flow and the external air entrainment. Thus the fuel injection was a thin cylindrical flow acted upon from both sides by air flow. [Pg.93]

An additional benefit of this configuration was the ability of all drivers to be dual-fueled for start-up assistance or automatic switchover if gas pressure failed. [Pg.26]

Each trailer is equipped with a dual safety valve and a dual rupture disc system (Figure 7). These are independent systems manually operated by the driver and can be switched to the alternate if the primary system fails. The capacities of the safety valves are designed to handle a fire on the outside of the container with a uniform surface temperature of 1200°F. [Pg.267]

Most of these vehicles are dual fueled and run on hydrogen or gasoline. The driver is able to change from hydrogen to gasoline while driving with a switch from the vehicle. [Pg.26]

Other. A calibration for changes in solvent compressibility can be made manually by using a screw-driver. Basically, this system is not very different from those operating at constant pressure, with dual-head, special-drive pumps. The main difference is that in one instance the reference pressure is calculated as a function of the selected flow-rate while in the other the reference pressure itself is selected. [Pg.36]

Dnring vehicle inspections, drivers must check tires to make sure that their condition is within company-established, out-of-service criteria. During an inspection or trip, the operator must monitor tires for road damage or deterioration such as tread or sidewall separation, cuts or gouges, flat spots or uneven wear, leaks (monitor tire inflation), and flat tires at duals. Operators should monitor tire inflation during extended trips. Operators should not operate on tires with inflation pressures other than those specified by the manufacturer. [Pg.244]

The number of BES members with physics roots was always a driver towards joint activities with IPSM. A number of joint Annual Scientific Meetings were held and for a number of years a joint membership directory was published. The overlapping membership of the two organisations eventually led to the 1995 merger, with an initial significant fall in income from member subscriptions, because a number of dual members now paid only one subscription and, inevitably, some members were not comfortable in a bigger, broader organisation and did not renew. [Pg.168]

Fig. 2.28. Top view of the amplifier cavity (Quantronix model RGA 4810). The KD P (KD2PO4) Pockels cell (PC, Medox Electro-Optics) has a dual function. First, it frustrates cavity lasing except for a brief time period when the seed pulse is accepted for amplification. Secondly, in combination with the thin-film polarizer (TFP), it also controls the injection of the seed pulse and extraction of the amplified pulse. The Pockels cell operates at IkHz. A photodetector is provided for intracavity power monitoring, which is necessary for adjusting the two time delays of the Pockels cell driver (by courtesy of Quantronix)... Fig. 2.28.
