Enclosures drying

The two types of dryers are static trays and conveyors, which are often vibrated as they move along. Atmospheric tray dryers are not suitable for some materials, notably nylon molding powder that oxidizes in air and requires vacuum drying. A commonly used variant of the tray type is the truck dryer. Here the loaded trays are placed on trucks and rolled into the drying enclosure. Continuous conveyor drying systems are extensively used where the product must be dried from the wet solid state and where production requirements are high. [Pg.148]

In the standard method, the metal enclosure (called the air chamber) used to hold the hydrocarbon vapors is immersed in water before the test, then drained but not dried. This mode of operation, often designated as the wet bomb" is stipulated for all materials that are exclusively petroleum. But if the fuels contain alcohols or other organic products soluble in water, the apparatus must be dried in order that the vapors are not absorbed by the water on the walls. This technique is called the dry bomb" it results in RVP values higher by about 100 mbar for some oxygenated motor fuels. When examining the numerical results, it is thus important to know the technique employed. In any case, the dry bomb method is preferred. [Pg.189]

Deep-Well Turbine and Canned Version. By stacking up the stages, heads up to 1100 m (3500 ft) can be achieved. To reduce the amount of dust produced, water can be added to the abrasive from a circular water sprayer around the no22le. Chemical corrosion inhibitors must be dissolved in the water to prevent flash msting of the steel. Newer methods to reduce dust include the use of ice, soHd carbon dioxide (dry ice), or plastic beads as abrasives. Blasting with dry ice is inexpensive and effective, but the accumulation of carbon dioxide must be avoided in enclosures. To retard corrosion and to facilitate future maintenance (e.g., allow the non-destructive removal of threaded Junction box covers), all threaded connections should be lubricated with an antiseize compound which will not dry out in the environment. If lubricant is applied to the threaded (or flanged) portion of covers of explosion-proof enclosures, the lubricant must have been tested and approved as suitable for flame path use.
