Drop density

Tap density. The mass of particles divided by the volume after tapping the powder in a container. Also referred to as the drop density [61]. The volume measurement is similar to that of bulk density.

The Florida seed orchard project conducted in 1980 (16) provided an opportunity to study drop deposit on needles of two distinct pine species. Five gallons of a dyed water base tank mix was applied per acre by aircraft. Drop stains were counted on needles microscopically. The VMD of the spray as determined on Kromekote cards was approximately 350 ym. Depending upon tree species and crown level, drop stains per centimeter length of needle ranged from 0.5 to 17.7 drops. A higher drop density was observed on the sparsely foliated slash pine than on the dense foliated Ocala sand pine (Table XI). A significantly greater density of drops was observed in the upper crown of both species as compared to the lower crown. 

Interfacial tensions between coexisting liquid and supercritical gas phases for the a-tocopherol/carbon dioxide system have been measured for different pressures at 313, 333, 343, 353, 363, 373, 383, 393 and 402 K. At each interfacial tension measurement the density of both the liquid and the supercritical gas phase was also determined as these values are essential in calculating interfacial tensions from the shape and size of drops. Densities of the system investigated have already been measured by other authors [4, 6, 7] and their results agree, within measurement accuracy, with those obtained in this work.

Flow Maldistribution in Heat Exchangers with Phase Change. Two-phase flow maldistribution may be caused and/or influenced by phase separation, oscillating flows, variable pressure drops (density-wave instability), flow reversals, and other flow instabilities. The flow of gaseous fuel through a control valve is similar to the flow through an orifice plate of the same cross area. The heat release is calculated knowing the GCV of the gas and the volume flow rate. The pressure drop across the orifice plate is calculated from Bernoulli s equation. The combination of these relations gives the heat release in terms of GCV, pressure drop, density, and area.

Customers return items for different reasons wrong product, mismatch with needs, and damaged products. Almost 30% of all craisumer products bought online are returned. The delivery company s strategy for collecting the returns would clearly impact sustainability. It is estimated that a standard van emits 21.7 kg of C02 per 50-nfile trip (Edwards et al. 2010). Numerous factors influence emissions from home deliveries. They include drop densities the distance and nature of the delivery roimd the type of vehicle used and the treatment of failed deliveries and returns. 

Delivery companies aim to maximize drop densities, avoid dedicated trips for collection of returns, and use low emission vehicles, such as electric vehicles. The use of parcel deposit boxes at homes can eliminate failed deliveries consolidation of orders to a particular address in a single delivery can cut vehicle-miles and adoption of flexible delivery-pricing can promote fuel-efficient speeds by...
