Dream analysis

If people have relatively strong egos and feel reasonably secure in themselves, they may be able to tolerate or even benefit from one or another therapeutic technique, whether it is role-playing, dream analysis, free association, cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy, self-hypnosis, relaxation techniques, biofeedback or whatever. But disturbed people will experience anything that is rote, contrived, or repetitive as one more humiliating insult, and even as an assault.

Less than 8 years from making that decision, I had my first book in my hand. At the age of 23, it was published. I m sure I could have accomplished it much faster, but I had to take care of a few minor tasks such as puberty, high school, and college. Over the past decade, I appeared on over 1300 radio and TV talk shows promoting my book, tapes, and the science of handwriting analysis. I lived my dream.

From its beginning with the work of the Curies, nuclear chemistry or radiochemistry has had to work with incredibly tiny samples of rare elements, and has required a skill at analysis - separating substances into their elemental components - that Antoine Lavoisier could never have dreamed of. 

Processes in a successful innovation project must satisfy requirements set by the market, the sponsors, and/or the inventor s own dreams. Requirements analysis is considered to be one of the most important features of any innovative pharmaceutical manufacturing system project, because if done professionally, it helps to specify, research, and develop appropriate features and processes that customers need. 

Leadership in the cognitive science domain has been provided by Bob Stickgold, who has recently been helped in the analysis of dreaming by Roar Fosse. Ed Pace-Schott has done the lion s share of the work in the NIDA-supported projects and has provided invaluable help in the editing of this book. Any errors that remain are obviously not his responsibility, but mine. 

Third, it shows that a kind of psychic causality—or free will if you will—operates in conjunction with brain physiology. This last point illuminates the others and is so important as to deserve critical analysis. In the section that follows I consider the possible brain basis of lucid dreaming and develop a cognitive neuroscience theory applicable to all dissociative states where suggestion plays an important part. 

De Quincey s account lends itself well to analysis using the knowledge gained through modern sleep and dream pharmacology. It helps us to answer the question What is the mechanism of action of the opiates upon the brain and how might it intensify dreaming ... 

We can understand the collaboration of long years of opium abuse with the autocreativity of the dreaming brain via an analysis of the indeed fierce chemistry of dreams that de Quincey could only poetically imagine.

Although most dream of a distant retirement paradise, after careful analysis, some retirees wisely opt to stay close to their roots. They discover paradise in their own backyard. The fact is, there is no perfect place. What really makes a place enjoyable is a combination of factors unique to you. Most important are the availability of supportive relationships with family and friends and the opportunity to engage in meaningful activities. What about you Do you already live in paradise or is it time to consider a new location ... 

Nowadays, the demand for nanoanalyses is increasing continuously and some advancement has been made in chromatographic and capillary electrophoresis instruments. The integration of all the steps of analysis, that is, sample preparation, injection, separation, and detection on a single chip, is the most difficult task for scientists. In spite of many encouraging advancements in chip LC/CE instrumentation we are still far away from realizing the visions presented a decade ago. Briefly, more advances are needed to turn the dream of real nanochromatography and capillary electrophoresis into a mature analytical tool.
