Traditionally, polymer producers have utilized direct sales, distributors, and brokers as routes to the marketplace. Producers must use all of these routes to satisfy a diversified customer base. This is normally true wherever customers are located. 

Distributors and wholesalers may act as middlemen, moving raw products from the farmer to the processor or manufacturer, or moving processed food to retailers. They will have information on how much is needed by the manufacturer and what quality. Brokers may also do the marketing and check that stores properly present your product. 

As a result, there is a complex infrastructure for resin distribution, involving not just the resin producers, but distributors and resellers, as well as recyclers and reprocessors. There are agents and brokers, warehouse...

If one outlet does not work, it is possible to switch to another. Some farmers use multiple outlets, selling directly to consumers as well as commercially to middlemen. In this way, the farmer is not reliant on just one outlet. Some farmers also take the decision to have their own processing facility, such as milk processing or cheese-making.

Similarly, crime networks can be disrupted by identifying the weak links in a criminal commodity chain, or by targeting those actors whose skills are in relatively short supply. The same process as outlined above should be followed for suppliers who perform only part of the supply process.
