Disabled alarms

SIS operating mode, program, data, means of disabling alarm communication, test, bypass, maintenance ... [Pg.65]

Aii bypass functions (for exampie, PE iogic soiver and PE sensor forces, disabled alarms) shall be returned to their normai position. [Pg.91]

Disabled alarms. These alarms may have been disabled for reasons such as those listed above but they may be needed in the future. [Pg.309]

In the event of fire within a building, the controller for each elevator should isolate all manually operated inputs and return automatically to the evacuation level, usually the ground floor. An output from the building fire alarm panel is hard wired to the elevator controller, giving the signal for a fire condition. The elevator remains disabled at the evacuation level and the car doors open. If a fire officer requires control of a elevator a key switch or break-glass unit should be used to re-activate the elevator. [Pg.60]

The patient should seek medical attention when symptoms are severe, last longer than 3 weeks, are disabling, when alarm symptoms occur, or whenever a significant change in usual bowel habits occurs. [Pg.308]

How should the health monitor statistics be used, and will this impact the model outputs that are provided to the customer (e.g., should high T IQ results disable the usage of model outputs for control pnrposes, or should they only generate alarms )... [Pg.433]

From my trailer I run the Swiss MCS association, which three hundred people have now joined. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. We are trying hard to get this disease finally recognized. As of today MCS is still considered a mental illness in Switzerland and because of this it s extremely difficult to receive understanding and sympathy from your family and relatives. It s also very difficult to pay for the costs incurred due to MCS on the very low disability benefits. For example, we can barely afford an expensive air purifier, even though we really need one to clean the air. The fact that you have to spend every day living like an outcast, without any form of companionship as if you re on another planet, is of course entirely outlandish. This environmental illness is without question an alarm call by nature. [Pg.96]

Am), which sends a stream of radiation to a detector. The smoke alarm goes off when this stream is interrupted by smoke—or steam, which is why smoke detectors in the kitchen can have an annoying habit of going off even when there isn t a fire. But smoke detectors have saved an impressive number of lives, so resist the temptation to disable the annoying smoke detector and provide the kitchen with better ventilation instead. [Pg.298]

Hourly workers struggle to maintain production in the face of disabled or ignored alarms, undocumented and often uncontrollable bypasses of established components, operating levels that exceed design limits, postponed and severely reduced turnaround maintenance and increasing maintenance on hot units by untrained, temporary non-union contract workers.156... [Pg.10]

A key from the tool-kit opened the cover over the elevator s small emergency manual control panel. He plugged an optical cable into the interface socket, and the processor block lit up with a simple display. The unit took eight seconds to decode the elevator monitor program commands and disable the alarm. [Pg.86]

Alzheimer s disease is primarily the result of degeneration or death of nerve cells in the cerebral cortex and in areas that usually control functions such as memory, personality, logical thinking, and other. As the nerve cells become withered and small, they cause the enlargement of the ventricles of the brain. Recent events are not remembered, the individual is not able to perform calculations or make plans and decisions. Abrupt personality changes alarm family members and friends thus disabling the person from functioning normally. [Pg.60]

To avoid burns under dispersive electrodes, the lEC Standard for HF Surgical Devices [5] requires that HF surgical equipment having a rated output power of more than 50 W shall be provided with a continuity monitor or contact quality monitor. The most common of these is the contact quahty monitor. A contact quality monitor consists of a circuit to measure the impedance between the two sides of a split dispersive electrode and the skin. This impedance is inversely proportional to the actual area of contact between the patient and the dispersive electrode. A small high-frequency current flows from one section of the dispersive electrode through the skin to the second section of the dispersive electrode. If the impedance between these two sections exceeds a certain threshold, or increases by a certain percentage, the patient contact area has unacceptably decreased, an audible alarm sounds, and the ESU output is disabled. The cable continuity monitor is less common. Unlike the contact quality monitor, this monitor only checks the continuity of the cable between the ESU and the dispersive electrode and sounds an alarm if the resistance in that conductor is greater than 1 2. [Pg.302]

General communication devices (standard telephones and PA speakers) are located throughout the HCF. The PA system is not normally used for evacuations but can be used in the event of failure of the TA-V alarm system. If an initiating event were to disable the HCF automatic alarm systems by disrupting the main power system, the PA system has a battery back-up. [Pg.129]

Inclusion appears to be in something of a sorry state, characterised by confusion, fiustration, guilt and exhaustion. Disabled commentator Tom Shakespeare (2005) suggests that there is also a measure of hysteria, moral panic and an alarming... [Pg.6]

All in-plant and out-of-plant systems are carefully evaluated to ensure plant and emergency response personnel are notified in a timely manner. If fire disables the alarm system, backup systems should be available and employees should know to utilize them. An effective fire plan incorporates as many of the emergency systems into the daily plant operations as possible in order to ensure they are in operational order and personnel are aware of how to use them. [Pg.179]

Technology enables unguarded areas to become virtually impossible to enter undetected. Even moderately sophisticated security systems cannot be disabled or disarmed without sending out an alarm. All openings to the property can be protected. Even fences can be... [Pg.311]

The levd indicating devices in the basins associated with the CHR alarms are disabled. [Pg.158]

The most alarming danger of lead is the damage it can do to a child s developing brain and nervous system. Even amounts of lead that were considered harmless a few years ago have been shown in scientific studies to cause learning disabilities and behavioral problems. A number of studies have found that for each 10 micrograms per deciliter over the threshold of 10 or 15 micrograms per deciliter of lead in a child s blood,... [Pg.14]

Where bypasses are required, they are designed and installed such that alarms and the manual shutdown are not disabled... [Pg.69]

If alarm is disabled, or wrong attributes present, alarm would not be generated... [Pg.659]

Organizations have been encouraged for many years to employ workers with disabilities and to ensure that their premises provide suitable access for such people. From a health and safety point of view, it is important that workers with a disability are covered by special risk assessments so that appropriate controls are in place to protect them. For example, employees with a hearing problem will need to be warned when the fire alarm sounds or a fork lift truck approaches. Special vibrating signals or flashing lights may be used. Similarly workers in wheelchairs will require a clear, wheelchair friendly, route to a fire exit and onwards to the assembly point. Safe systems of work and welfare facilities need to be suitable for any workers with disabilities. [Pg.76]
