Direct current performance

The Direct Current Potential Drop method (DCPD) has been evaluated for non destructive testing of uniaxially produced Powder Metallurgical (P/M) parts. The aim is to adapt DCPD to be functional as an ndt tool during production of parts. Defects can occur at different stages in the production cycle which means that DCPD has to be performed on components in different states and searching for different defects. [Pg.381]

Power, P, defiaed as the rate at which work is performed, is expressed ia terms of energy divided by time and is most commonly given in units of horsepower, as for the power suppHed by mechanical devices such as diesel engines, or in the SI units of watts, especially when measuring electrical power. One horsepower is equivalent to the amount of power needed to lift 33,000 pounds (14,982 kg) one foot (30.5 cm) in one minute. One watt is equivalent to the power required to perform one joule of work per second. In a simple direct-current circuit where potential is represented by E ... [Pg.1]

A general-purpose direct-current small motor is a small motor of mechanical construction suitable for general use under usual service conditions and has ratings and constructional and performance characteristics applying to direct-current small motors as given in Parts 10, 11, 12, and 14. [Pg.650]

The essential requirements for a constant-current electrolytic determination — a source of direct current (which may be a mains-operated unit producing a rectified smoothed output of 3-15 volts), a variable resistance, an ammeter (reading up to 10 amperes), a voltmeter (10-15 volts), and a pair of platinum electrodes — can be readily assembled in most laboratories, but if a number of determinations are to be performed a commercial electrolysis unit will doubtless be preferred. This will be equipped with rectifier, a motor drive for a paddle-type stirrer or with a magnetic stirrer, and a hotplate. [Pg.511]

At the end of the 2D experiment, we will have acquired a set of N FIDs composed of quadrature data points, with N /2 points from channel A and points from channel B, acquired with sequential (alternate) sampling. How the data are processed is critical for a successful outcome. The data processing involves (a) dc (direct current) correction (performed automatically by the instrument software), (b) apodization (window multiplication) of the <2 time-domain data, (c) Fourier transformation and phase correction, (d) window multiplication of the t domain data and phase correction (unless it is a magnitude or a power-mode spectrum, in which case phase correction is not required), (e) complex Fourier transformation in Fu (f) coaddition of real and imaginary data (if phase-sensitive representation is required) to give a magnitude (M) or a power-mode (P) spectrum. Additional steps may be tilting, symmetrization, and calculation of projections. A schematic representation of the steps involved is presented in Fig. 3.5. [Pg.163]

The IV measurements on molecules and monolayers have been carried out almost exclusively using direct current (DC) frequency-dependent alternating current (AC) impedance measurements have rarely been performed, even though a rich spectroscopy may reveal itself, if the IV measurements were followed as a function of frequency v. [Pg.49]

MeItTran, Inc. (MeItTran), has developed the Ultimate Solution, an ex situ vitrification technology that uses a direct current (DC) arc system to treat hazardous wastes. The vendor claims that organic materials are destroyed by the technology and that inorganic materials are melted and cooled into a leach-resistant final waste form. RIMS were unable to obtain information from the vendor in regards to performance or commercial availability. [Pg.775]

Selective synthesis of acetylene (>90%) from methane was accomplished by microwave plasma reactions.568 Conversion of methane to acetylene by using direct current pulse discharge was performed under conditions of ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure.569 The selectivity of acetylene was >95% at methane conversion levels ranging from 16 to 52%. In this case oxygen was used to effectively remove deposited carbon and stabilize the state of discharge. Similar high... [Pg.130]
