Dip-coating method

Prior to dip-coating, the porous substrate has to be polished or coated with a layer of smaller particles so that the surface roughness and the average pore size of the substrate are reduced. The pretreated substrate [Pg.39]

The properties and quality of the membrane products depend critically on the support quality, the concentration and structure of the precursor solution, and also the details of the drying and calcination process. The following are necessary to obtain defect-free membranes  [Pg.40]

We prepared ceria on Ni substrate by sol-gel coating method. Ceria sol solution was prepared with ceria sol solution (Alfa, 20% in H2O, colloidal dispersion) mixed with ethanol (99.9%, Hayman) with weight ratio (1 2) and stirred. Ceria was deposited on Ni substrate by dip coating method. The variation number of dipping was carried out to obtain different coating ratio. The anode was completely dipped into the ceria sol solution for several seconds and dried at a temperature of 50 C for 24 hours in air atmosphere followed by calcination at 700 C for 30 minutes in 5%H2-N2 atmosphere. [Pg.601]

In order to act as a transducer optode must be attached to the optical fiber. Bulks (>1 mm) of sol-gel matrix can be easily glued to the fiber tip, especially, if the polymer fiber is used39. The smaller optodes can be attached to fiber end by dip-coating method or simply by direct painting of the fiber-tip with a liquid gel. [Pg.361]

The Japanese scientists tested the fiber optic carbon dioxide sensor86, prepared by dip-coating method - the sol-gel film containing indicator dye, thymol blue, was deposited on unclad fiber. The sensitive film had both organic and inorganic parts with good permeability. The differences between attenuation in N2 gas and in CO2/N2 mixture gas increased with the CO2... [Pg.372]

The dip-coating method was used to deposit the 8 form sPS layer on the LPG. The optical fiber with the LPG was arranged in the holder and a sPS chloroform... [Pg.66]

Jia and coworkers prepared thin-film composite zeolite-filled silicone rubber membranes by a dip-coating method [82]. The membranes have a thin silicalite-1/ silicone rubber mixed-matrix selective layer on top of a porous polyetherimide support. [Pg.346]

The dip coating method enabled the synthesis of nanocomposite silica film with the laminated structure of abalone nacre, which is known for its strength,... [Pg.71]

In addition to the dip-coating method, ceramic layers on a porous substrate can also be formed by filtration of a sol or by filtration of a suspension using the substrate as a filter and applying an external pressure. These methods are not discussed in this chapter. The reader is referred to Ref. [1] for more information. [Pg.142]

Considerable amount of research has gone into the development and characterization of surfactant templated silica, in order to produce various mesophases and nanowire geometries with well-controlled pore diameters within the quantum confinement regime (i.e. 2-20 nm). Lu and coworkers have characterized one of the more promising methods, a sol-gel dip-coating method for rapid (tens of seconds) template generation. The fabrication process involves evaporation-induced self assembly of liquid crystal domains dominated by inward growth from the solid-liquid... [Pg.202]

The material contains macropores with an average size of typically 5 pm and the BET surface area is 4.6 mVg. Cordierite monoliths were coated with an a-AI2O3 (Alfa Aesar) layer using a dip coating method in order to block the macroporosity of the substrate and to prevent deposition of catalytic material in the macropores of the cordierite. The particle size of the a-Al203 used range... [Pg.145]

A dip coating method is applied in order to allow the deposition of Pd/y-AlaOa on FeCrAlloy-type fibers. All samples are investigated by means of XRD, XPS, CO chemisorption and nitrogen physisorption. The catalytic fibers are tested in the total combustion of methane showing that O2/H2 gaseous pretreatment, which takes place before the catalytic reaction, is strongly beneficial as confirmed by a better dispersion of Pd particles. [Pg.681]

In the dip-coating method a ceramic structure is dip-coated into a liquid polymer or polymer solution (e.g. poly furfural alcohol or resins, furan-type resins) by immersion in the liquid polymer until the structure is completely soaked. The excess polymer is then removed by air, vacuum, or some other method, and the polymer is allowed to solidify. Finally the polymer is converted into a carbon by heating the composite up to 873-1273 K. [Pg.42]

Hybrid nanostructured films on the surface of AA2024 (A1 alloy) plates were deposited from the prepared sols by the dip coating method described in details in [3]. After coating deposition, the samples were dried at room temperature for 1 h and then heated at 120 °C for 80 min in air. [Pg.381]

During preparation of a photocatalytic membrane by the dip coating method a membrane is dipped in a 1102 suspension in water (Kim et al., 2003 Kim and Van der Bruggen, 2010 Kwak et al., 2001 Madaeni and Ghaemi, 2007), alcohol, for example, 2-propanol (Vankelecom, 2002) or other liquids. The membrane after dipping could be additionally pressurized with a compressed gas (Bae and Tak, 2005). The photocatalyst particles are self-assembled on a polymeric membrane due to a coordination of the functional groups present on the membrane surface (e.g., carbonyl or... [Pg.256]

A scheme of preparation procedure of ceramic photocatalytic membranes by the dip coating method. [Pg.267]
