Benzoylindoline (223 g, l.Omol) was dissolved in CH2CI2 (2.23 1) and Mn02 (261 g, 3.0 mol. Diamond"Shamrock grade M) was added. The mixture was heated at reflux and agitated for 18 h. The reaction mixture was filtered and the solid washed with hot CH2CI2 (200ml). Evaporation of the solvent left 7-benzoylindole. 

The section describes the first lADC standardized system for dull grading natural diamond, PDC, and TSP (thermally stable polycrystalline diamond) bits, otherwise known as fixed cutter bits [55]. The new system is consistent with the recently revised dull grading system for roller bits. It describes the condition of the cutting structure, the primary (with location) and secondary dull characteristics, the gage condition, and the reason the bit was pulled.

All of the samples analyzed were standard one-inch diameter polished thin sections. Whenever feasible the samples received a final, cleansing polish with 1 pm diamond compound made from commercial graded diamonds embedded in "vaseline". Commercial diamond paste has proved unsatisfactory due to high levels of K, Na, Cl, Si, F, and Ca. Samples are then cleaned with carbon tetrachloride, rinsed in ethanol, and coated with vacuum evaporator. This sample preparation technique was developed during our studies of minor elements [16,17] and has proved to produce consistently contamination-free samples.

Warehouses are normally considered low risk occupancies unless high value or critical components are stored. Some high valve components normally overlooked in warehouses are diamond (industrial grade) studded drill bits or critical process control computer boards. In these cases the economic benefits of installing an automatic sprinkler system should be investigated. 

Gold is too soluble in aqua regia to risk dipping a contaminated electrode in it, so the best way to clean the gold surface is by abrasion, e.g. with diamond-dust rubbing compound or graded alumina, as described above. 

The characteristics of the presolar diamonds also change with the metamorphic grade of the host meteorite. F igure 5.15 shows the typical bimodal release of heavy noble gases (here illustrated by xenon) in Orgueil, an unheated chondrite. This pattern is compared to the xenon-release patterns of two ordinary chondrites that have experienced different degrees of mild metamorphism.
