Demulcent honey

Any non-medicated glycogelatin-based demulcent pastilles, such as glycerin, lemon and honey pastilles or boiled sweets, may be as effective as anything for soothing a sore throat. Because they contain no medicament they can be used as often as necessary to stop the throat feeling dry, thereby relieving discomfort. [Pg.134]

Compounds used in demulcent cough remedies include glycerol, liquid glucose, syrup, honey and treacle. [Pg.144]

Pastilles (e.g. glycerin, lemon and honey) provide a more prolonged soothing effect than liquids as they promote production of saliva, which has a demulcent effect, while the pastille is being sucked. [Pg.144]
