The use of the Brabender Plasticorder is widespread in the development and quality control of formulations destined to be used in uPVC foam extrusion applications. The morphology transformations associated with the process have been widely studied but the particularities of the application have not often been taken into account - low K-value and high concentration of high molecular weight process aid. This work uses a commercially viable formulation to examine the fusion aspect of the transformation process. Differential scanning calorimetry is used to observe the degree of fusion. 9 refs. [Pg.116]

The compressive strain is given at 10 % compression, since for semi-rigid foamed plastics there is no sudden rupture of the cell structure. In the characteristic compressive force-compression set line for foamed PS material, the curve rises linearly at the beginning. Here foamed PS material behaves elastically. As the strain increases, an irreversible deformation occurs (compressive set). The limit of elasticity lies in the range 1.5-3.5% compression. This limit is shifted toward lower compression levels as the temperature increases. The compressive strain at 10% compression depends on the degree of fusion of the pre-foamed beads. Compressive set increases linearly with increasing density (Figure 9.16). [Pg.186]

With the aim of getting block-copolysulfonarilates with a smaller degree of fusion, and with good physio-mechanical properties the block-copolymers are synthesized on the basis of dian or phenolphtalein oligoarilensulphonoxides and dichloranhydrides of different structure [1-6]. [Pg.212]

The degree of fusion of the plastisol and the extent of wetting of the zeolite particles by the plastic matrix affects the rate of diffusion and extent of adsorption of methylene blue whic are preferentially adsorbed on zeolites. Experimental work indicated that addition of zeolites to PVC plastisols created an interface accessible to aquous solutions. [Pg.440]

Kling test A method for determining the degree of fusion between flexible vinyl sheets, coated fabrics, and thin sections of cast or molded parts, by immersing the folded specimen in a solvent and observing the elapsed time at which disintegration commences. Useful solvent systems comprise methyl ethyl ketone, tetrahydrofuran, ethyl acetate, and carbon tetrachloride. The preferred solvent system is one that will initiate degradation within 5-10 min in a fully fused specimen. Wickson EJ (ed)... [Pg.555]

Rhodamine ro-d9- men [ISV] (1888) n. Any of a class of organic dyes that exhibit bright orange to red fluorescent colors when viewed under ultraviolet hght. An interesting characteristic is that in vinyl compound, the color shade is dependent on the degree of fusion. Thus, they can be used as indicators of fusion completeness. [Pg.840]

The degree of fusion, line speed, and the engraved pattern on the roll affect the finished geotextile pore size distribution. The pore size distribution will also depend on the fibre type and the density of fibres in the geotextUes. Thermal bonded nonwovens are thinner and have greater stiffness. [Pg.341]

A common clinical problem of the oral or parenteral route of administration of the newer beta-stimulants. such as salbutamol and terbutaline, is digital tremor. This effect is mediated via adrenoceptors of the beta-2 subclass. Incidence of tremor may be as high as 40%. No substantial separation between bronchodilator and tremorogenic activity has been reported.A decrease in the tension and degree of fusion of incomplete tetanic contractions of the slow contracting soleus muscle of the cat is used as a laboratory model predictive of tremor in ntan. ... [Pg.86]

For this reason, an integration range of 50-160 C and a heat of fusion of 289.3 J/g was standardized for UHMWPE in ASTM F2625 in 2007. Researchers should report the integration range and degree of fusion used when reporting crystallinity of UHMWPE. [Pg.357]
