In order to obtain more definitive information about the failure of PMMA we conducted zero-tension sinusoidal fatigue tests at 0.164 Hz l.e., p -f q In equation (4) and the peak stress Is p + q. The results are shown In Table II. Figure 2 shows the comparison of the average times to break with those predicted from equation (5) and the value of B determined from constant stress tests. As can be seen, the predicted times to fall vs. peak stress form a line nearly. parallel to the dead load data and at approximately seven fold greater failure times.
