The detection of short-chain sulfophenylcarboxylic acids (SPCs) [2,9, 13,17,18] is clear proof of the primary biodegradation of LAS in the natural medium. In general the concentrations detected are small, one order of magnitude less than those found for LAS [2,9,13], with the exception of the river Osellino [18] where the total concentration of SPC found exceeded that of LAS. The highest concentrations are also observed near zones into which wastewater effluents are discharged [9, 18]. Both SPC and dialkyltetralines (DATSs) have also been detected in some samples of fluvial sediments [9],...

This format was developed in our group and is used fruitfully in SONNIA, software for producing Kohonen Self Organizing Maps (KSOM) and Coimter-Propaga-tion (CPG) neural networks for chemical application [6]. This file format is ASCII-based, contains the entire information about patterns and usually comes with the extension "dat . 

Het onderzoek, zoals dat beschreven is in dit proefschrift, had als doel methoden te vinden om de selectiviteit en de reactiesnelheid, twee belangrijke aspecten van de Diels-Alderreactie, te vergroten. Op beide aspecten zal dadelijk nader ingegaan worden.

Considerable research and development effort is being placed on a chlorine-resistant membrane that wiU maintain permeabUity and selectivity over considerable time periods (years). This polymer activity is not limited to hoUow fibers, but the thick assymetric skin of hoUow-fiber constmction might offer an advantage in resolving the end use need as opposed to the ultrathin dat-sheet composite membranes. 

Whereas semigloss paints can use only one extender, dat paints, especially interior, can use combinations of three or more. Gloss paints typically do not use extenders, which decrease gloss. As a result, gloss paints lack the hardening effect of extenders and must rely on harder binders for adequate durabihty. Other types of extenders used in paints can have functional properties such as corrosion resistance, mildew resistance, and film-hardening effects. Thek functional properties result from thek reactive nature in the paint film. Zinc oxide is an example of a functional extender that contributes to these properties in a paint film.
