Damping element

Unnecessary loading of the breakdown fuse through transient overvoltages can be avoided by connection to a r element which consists of a length choke and transverse capacitors. So-called iron core chokes are most conveniently used for series chokes, which are usual in power electronics. A damping element with a 61-fjF capacitor is advised at the input and output of the r element. [Pg.340]

One assumes that the line impedance is 50ohms (because that is what the LISN test s impedance is). This impedance is then the damping element within the reactive filter circuit. [Pg.247]

A damping element (sometimes ealled a dashpot) is assumed to produee a veloeity proportional to the foree (or torque) applied to it. [Pg.16]

Figure 4.98 Generic presentation of two flow splitting concepts both concepts are based on symmetry and use of flow resistors by choice. The left one is without a damping element the right one includes a damping element [141]. Along with functioning as a Cl carrier, the microporous layers of combined materials serve as a damping element of the films [3,18,23[. [Pg.90]

Internal aftervulcanization (temperature gradient during cooling) cannot compensate for the difference. In a rubber-metal damping element, the internal degree of crosslinking was 75 % of the external level [7]. This does not result in internal stresses because the wide-meshed network allows for deformations. There are, however, differences between the internal and external properties. [Pg.264]

Using the same threshold as in the first study, MORA eliminates the elements that contain less than 5% of the total activity (95% accumulated activity). MORA suggests that two elements, namely the unsprung mass and tire damping (elements below the dashed line in Table 2.3), should be eliminated from the model. The reduced model retains 99.15% of the total activity and it is generated by eliminating... [Pg.69]

In the manufacture of damping elements, both dynamic properties and resistance to thermo-oxidative environments are required. NR and CR appear to be suitable rubbers for such applications. ... [Pg.257]

The dampers can only be simulated by software with nonlinearity damp element. The COMBIN14 element whose nodes have three DOFs in the ANSYS software is employed, accounting for the compression and tension in the axis direction and no bending and torsion, as shown in Figure 3. [Pg.117]

Introducing an additional mass-stiffiiess-damping element at the mass to modify the Eigen frequeneies (Figure 3a). There may be passive masses or active or semi-active systems using e.g. eontrol to accelerate the mass to minimise the deflection of the mass niy Such mass-stifl iess-damping systems are called compensators, absorbers or tuned mass dampers. [Pg.261]

Coupling in series. The partial shear stresses Ts of the spring elements and Tp of the damping element equal the total shear stress T= Ts = Td, analogous to the total amount of electricity transported through a series of capacitors that is Q= Qi = Qj =... [Pg.33]

Nonlinear models of rheological behavior can be approximated by step functions, whereby the existence of a finite yield stress G plays a dominant role. Three typical nonlinear models include the Saint-Venant model of ideal plastic behavior, the Prandtl-Reuss model of an elastoplastic material, and the Bingham model of viscoelastic behavior. The first model can be mechanically approximated by a sliding block, the second by a Maxwell element and a sliding block in series, and the third by a dash pot damping element and a sliding block in parallel (Figure 2.14). [Pg.37]

Sometimes damping elements are described by such characteristic lines. In this case the damping force fn depends on the relative velocity Vreh This yields... [Pg.233]

There are three types of links in Cordis spring, friction and conditional. Each of these implements a specific type of bridge between matter. Spring and friction implement the standard spring and damping elements mentioned earlier. The conditional link implements a combination of spring and friction, and it allows for the specification of non-linear interactions in the network. [Pg.90]
