Cyanoacrylate glue

Only small amounts of nitromethane are used as solvent, but it is used in specialized appHcations such as the solublization of a-cyanoacrylate glue and acryhc polymers. Also, nitromethane is useflil as solvent for single-phase Friedel-Crafts reactions (115). 

Cyanoacrylate glue (Super Glue or Krazy Glue). 

The rats are anesthetized and undergo an aseptic procedure to implant the aortic catheter distal to the renal arteries. The catheter is secured using cyanoacrylate glue. The transmitter and battery unit are placed in the abdomen and attached to the abdominal musculature using a suture. After closure of the surgical wound, the animals are giving sufficient time to recover from the procedure before being used in a study, usually at least one week. 

Unlike dendritic keratitis, indolent ulcers are typically very difficult to treat. Instillation of a prophylactic antibiotic, such as polymyxin B-bacitracin ointment two to four times a day, and a cycloplegic agent, such as 5% homatropine two to three times a day, is indicated. Therapeutic soft contact lens use with appropriate antibiotic therapy can also be considered as alternatives. These patients must be monitored carefully to ensure that no secondary infection develops. If the ulcer deepens, a new infiltrate forms, or if there is an increase in the anterior chamber reaction while the patient is being treated, cultures should be performed to rule out bacterial or fungal infection. Cyanoacrylate glue, conjunctival flap surgery, or tarsorrhaphy may be required if healing does not occur.

Cyanoacrylate glues Ingestion is harmless. Cyanide is not released. Corneal abrasions may occur following ocular exposure. Adhesion of skin and eyelids is possible following dermal exposure. Treat adhesions with petrolatum-based ointment. 

Spread a thin layer of cyanoacrylate glue on the slicing stage (see Notes 4 and 9) to which an agar block has already been mounted (see Fig. 2). 

Some authors isolate the hippocampus in a way as described in the tissue chopper method. The middle portion of the hippocampus is cut out and mounted onto the vibratome slicing stage with cyanoacrylate glue In our opinion, the tissue block method described in this chapter is superior, since it reduces the direct handling of the hippocampus. 

Using a small amount of cyanoacrylate glue, stick the tissue block to the stage of a tissue sheer supporting the side furthest away from the sheer blade with a small block of agar (see Notes 10 and 11). 

Dip the end of this strand into a solution of conducting silver paint and immediately insert the wire into the stem end of the electrode. Push the wire inward, toward the electrode tip, so that the conducting paint-coated end of the strand makes contact with the carbon fiber and presses it against the glass (see Fig. 2B) Apply a drop of cyanoacrylate glue to the stem end of the electrode to secure the wire...

In case of high-risk (Borden II-III) DAVMs, particulate embolization as a sole treatment does not provide safe and permanent prevention from subsequent bleeding. If transarterial embolization is considered in such cases because neither surgery nor transvenous embolization is feasible or recommended, liquid embolics should be chosen (Fig. 4.21). Patch testing with cyanoacrylate glue might give false-negative reactions when dissolved in acetone...
