Cutting plate

Nematodes are long, cylindrical unsegmented worms that are tapered at both ends. Because of their shape, they are commonly referred to as roundworms. Some intestinal nematodes contain a mouth with three lips, and in some the mouth contains cutting plates. Infection occurs after ingestion of embryonated eggs or tissues of another host that contain larval forms of the nematodes.

Tiselius, again using suitably cut plates of heulandite, established actual concentration gradients from birefringence studies as a function of distance x from the surface. If the concentration at f = 0 is Co throughout the crystal, and at time t is at distance x while at x = 0, c = for all t > 0, then... 

The saltmarsh was sampled at 10 mm intervals to a depth of 1500 mm using the device of Allen French (1989). Bedding-parallel slices are obtained using this device in which a cutting plate is positioned between two slotted uprights pinned onto the marsh cliff. 

The buccal cavity of some intestinal nematodes contains teeth or cutting plates which are modifications of the cuticle. These are most prevalent in species that feed on the mucosa of the alimentary or respiratory tracts of the host. Nematodes that have a small buccal cavity and rely on extracorporeal digestion of host tissues depend less heavily on the grinding action of teeth, and cuticle modifications in the buccal cavity are less extensive. 

AT and BT plates are made to vibrate primarily in the thickness shear mode. However, it is important to realize that quartz crystals can be made to vibrate in any one or combination of these modes. The vibrational modes can be induced electrically, acoustically, thermally or by some combination of all of these factors. The thickness shear frequency response of an AT plate can be described in terms of the fundamental frequency. As it is also known from other fields of working metals, the different forms of the chips from machining cast iron and steel cause a much more intense interaction with the cutting plate for the latter material. Therefore, the demands concerning the chemical and oxidation stability are more stringent on working hardened steel than on machining hard cast iron (Table 2).
