Credit hours

Farmers are often more than willing to share their farms and experiences in this way. The challenge for educators is to identify the resources needed to transport and sustain students in the field and to compensate farmers for their time, as well as to convince administrators that this type of education is worth the trouble and expense. This is far less efficient in terms of accumulated student credit hours that can be counted by the department and credited to a professor, compared to the large lecture environment. It is only when effective long-term learning is measured that the benefits of such a system can be fully appreciated. [Pg.399]

Acknowledging critical recommendations from concerned forensic scientists, the degree program will contain in excess of 110 credit hours of science courses, to include a minimum of 44 hours of chemistry and 28 hours of special forensic science courses. [Pg.15]

Lehigh University (PA) 4 5 CHM 95 CHM 97 Students may apply to the department for a special examination that, if completed successfully, will result in an additional three credit hours for CHM 31. [Pg.580]

In May 1953, Jahoda (7) published the results of a very pertinent survey on university instruction in chemical literature. This study was limited to the 75 schools listed as granting the Ph. D. in chemistry in 1948-49, of which 60 replied. Thirty-two offered a one-semester course in chemical literature, and 20 required it. The courses were for one or two credit hours. According to Jahoda, the course is best taught at junior or first-year graduate level, but tends to be disregarded and sometimes to disappear unless required. [Pg.29]

In a three-hour undergraduate coume at the University of Michigan, approximately eight chapters are covered in the following order Chapters 1,2, 3,4, and 6, Sections 5.1-5.3, and Chapters 8,10, and parts of either 7 or 13. Complete sample syllabi for a 3-credit-hour course and a 4-ctedit-hour course can be found on the CD-ROM. [Pg.12]

Students at the University of South Alabama are currently introduced to computational methods in a five credit hour special topics course. The course meets for four hours of lecture and three hours of laboratory for each week of a 10-week quarter term. This course is designed for students who have completed three terms (quarters) of physical chemistry, so that all the students have had some exposure to quantum chemistry. The object of the course is to expose the student to a wide variety of computational tools that can be used to solve various chemical problems. [Pg.180]

It should be noted that the ACCE did not incorporate specific requirements for safety content and coverage in accredited programs before 2002. However, the current ACCE guidelines (ACCE 2012) require constraction safety as part of the curriculum. ACCE requires 4-year programs to devote at least one credit hour of the curriculum to constraction safety. The credit can be earned in a single course, or as part of other courses taken in the curriculum. Furthermore, ACCE describes the typical curriculum content on safety to include (1) safe practices (2) mandatory procedures, training, records, and maintenance and (3) comphance, inspection, and penalties. [Pg.267]

With the optional studio, the eight-course sequence entails 32 credit hours of a total 132 credit hours - almost a quarter of our students total coursework. Each PDI Studio also entails six instructor-student contact-hours per week for 4 aedit hours (instead of the typical four contact-hours). This results in PDI students experiencing considerably more instructor contact than with typical courses, and a full one-third... [Pg.421]
