Cosmic purpose

Haught, J. (2005). Reading an unfinished universe science and the question of cosmic purpose. In Spiritual Information 100 Perspectives on Science and Religion,ed. [Pg.342]

The literature on catalytic hydrogenation is very extensive, and it is tempting to think that after all this effort there must now exist some sort of cosmic concept that would allow one to select an appropriate catalyst from fundamentals or from detailed knowledge of catalyst functioning. For the synthetic chemist, this approach to catalyst selection bears little fruit. A more reliable, quick, and useful approach to catalyst selection is to treat the catalyst simply as if it were an organic reagent showing characteristic properties in its catalytic behavior toward each functionality. For this purpose, the catalyst is considered to be only the primary catalytic metal present. Support and... [Pg.2]

The thousand bolometers will drive an anticoincidence electronic system to eliminate spurious signals such as those due to cosmic radiation. For the same purpose, the bolometer structure will be surrounded by three shields of roman lead (without 210Pb contamination) the first, 10 cm thick, at 10 mK the second and third at 50 mK and 600 mK respectively. A Faraday cage will protect the experiment from electromagnetic interference. CUORE is now in an initial realization stage. [Pg.363]

After having made this distinction, the tower can be used paradoxically, to transport consciousness for a very specific purpose. First, let s be quite clear that consciousness itself doesn t actually require any vehicle to be anywhere. Consciousness is omnipresent. But consciousness does require a vehicle to function, to be effective, upon any given plane. In very advanced practice, the tower is moved within the etheric counterpart of the Earth, first to the North Pole, where our planet receives most of the incoming cosmic radiations from the stars, and from there to other locations, even to the great diamond-crowned Tower at the principal abode of the immortal Sages, that august sanctuary which is, as its name states, the place where the will of God is known. This is a high level of practice that is only undertaken with direct tuition. [Pg.128]

The purpose of the series was to accumulate scientific data, such as inside, outside and skin temperatures density, distribution and momentum of micro-meteorites, cosmic-ray intensity energy and intensity of corpuscular radiations, X-radiation, die extent of the earth s radiation belt, map the earth s magnetic field, etc Note 1 Perigee is the point in the orbit of a satellite of the earth that is nearest to the earth... [Pg.232]

Photographic films with nuclear emulsions are used successfully in order to record very rare events induced by cosmic radiation. For this purpose, light-shielded packages of films have been carried by balloons to high altitudes. Some elementary particles, e.g. the positron and the n meson, have been detected by use of photographic emulsions. [Pg.122]

These two concepts, the One World, and the shaman s Initiation into its mysteries, are emblematic of a cosmic transaction -- that of the Subjective becoming aware of itself within the Objective for the purpose of ultimate unification. In the concept of psychedelic shamanism lies the possibility of a deceptively easy access to the inner realms for the purposes of growth and integration. As always, the rewards of such undertakings are proportional to their dangers. [Pg.78]

Noble gases are produced by spallation reactions when high energy particles, produced by interactions between cosmic rays and the Earth s atmosphere, interact with nuclei at the Earth s surface (Niedermann 2002, this volume). The purpose of this section is to evaluate how production and preservation of cosmogenic noble gases affect the crustal noble gas budget. [Pg.501]

I thank Joe Licciardi for unpublished data and Ralf Hetzel and Rainer Wieler for comments on the manuscript. Reviews by Ken Farley, Simon Kelley, William Phillips, and Jorg Schafer were very helpful to better achieve this article s purpose to become a survey of the current state of the art in cosmic ray exposure dating using noble gases. [Pg.777]
