Water and brine pumps may be isolated with flexible connectors. For small-bore pipes, these can be ordinary reinforced rubber hose, suitably fastened at each end. For larger pipes, corrugated or bellows connectors of various types can be obtained. In all cases, the main pipe must be securely fixed close to the connector, so that the latter absorbs all the vibration. Flexible connectors for the refrigerant usually take the form of corrugated metal hose, wrapped and braided. They should be placed as close to the compressor as possible. 

A vented ford is one of LWSCs that has pipe(s) imder the crossing that accommodate low flows without overtopping the road. High water will periodically flow over the crossing. The pipe(s) or culverts maybe embedded in earth fill, aggregate, riprap, or Portland cement concrete. SMV several stacked sheets of corrugated metal running at 30 or 45° to the pipe axis. Each element is 0.5 to 1.0 diameter in length and adjacent elements are rotated 90° relative to each other. Mixer hydraulic diameter is determined by the height of the corrugation or the number of stacked corrugated sheets.

These joints consist of one or more corrugations in a metal suitable for the temperature and pressure in the pipe (Figure 7-110). Typical materials used for corrugated joints include copper, stainless steel, or Inconel in the bellows and cast-iron or cast-steel end flanges, or steel welding nipples.

This involves lining of a deteriorated metal corrugated drainpipe [19—21 ] that has discharged on the side of a hiU. Water escaping from the pipe caused soil erosion of the embankment from the concrete retaining to the end of the pipe. As shown in Fig. 14.10, a CIPP liner is inverted by air then steam cured. On completion, the pipe is later coved with soil to the retaining wall, as shown in Fig. 14.11. Excavation to install a new pipe was deemed too costly and dismptive to plant operations.
