Flexible Metal Hose

The Ya" NPT female end of this fitting is then attached to the flexible metal hose with swivel male fitting after you thread seal and tape. The hose part number is in the storage tank connections section on page 225. 

Flexible metal hose of bronze or stainless steel should be used for connecting a tank car or tank truck to the main unloading line. This will prevent breaking or bending of stationary pipe as the springs raise the tank car or truck during unloading. (Most trucks have or can have their own hoses.) A flexible hose lined with polyvinyl alcohol resin, polyvinylidene chloride, or polytetrachloroethylene plastic is also suitable for such use. The polyvinyl alcohol, however, must be protected from moisture, which readily attacks it. 

Cooling of Control Rod, This can best be accomplished with water, possibly containing a dissolved boron compound e.g. sodium borate. This procedure will have the advantage that the rod itself can be made of any structurally convenient material, since the bulk of the neutron absorption will occur within the liquid itself. Troublesome heat transfer and pressure drop problems are thus somewhat alleviated also. Connections to the cooling rod can be made by flexible metal hose. 

Sample Transfer Line made of stainless steel tubing or other flexible metal hose, impervious to the product being sampled, is required. The most satisfactory line is one equipped with two valves on the sample-container end. Fig. 1, a control valve. A, and a vent valve, B.
