Several types of paper-copying methods (duplicating) exist (Fisher 1983 Rietschel and Fowler 1995). The first is called Verifax (Eastman-Kodak). Two men were sensitised from 4-phenyl catechol while employed making powder for the sensitised emulsion (Harman and Sarkany i960) for the Verifax photocopying method. Jensen and Roed-Petersen (1979) described patients who had itchy erythema of their faces from vapour evaporating from wet toners used in photocopy machines, but they were unable to identify the precise chemical. [Pg.1037]

The third paper-copying method is called thermofax (heat process). This heat process, used in duphcation, has caused many instances of allergic sensitisation to 4-tert-butyl catechol. Dermatitis from thermofax paper has been reported (Fisher 1958 Hasegawa et al. 1958 Kendrick 1958 Sheard et al. 1958 Harman and Sarkany i960 Degos et al. 1968). [Pg.1037]

The fourth type of paper-copying method are the electrostatic or xerographic methods. No instance of contact dermatitis has been reported from this duplication process. [Pg.1037]

The chemistry which can be used to complement the BOM technique may be one known from the various copying methods. One of these include an imine which shifts the absorption maximum upon protonation The proton is produced by photodecomposition of an activator, e.g. CBr4- In this case, fixation can easily be obtained by evaporation of CBr, The binder and the solvent used to spincoat a layer on top of the photoresist are the same as used for the CEL technique. [Pg.93]

Zinc oxide - Zinc oxide is a specialty coating pigment that is used for electroconductive papers, although many of the electroconductive copy methods have been replaced by xerography and other similar processes. Zinc oxide accepts and retains an electrostatic charge when exposed to high... [Pg.191]

Note some particularities of new USCT method. At first, data collection and search of areas with anomalous (inhomogeneous)SD of acoustic parameters (velocities of spreading of US waves) is joined. As a sought image, on which anomalies is revealed, it is offered total image B (r), which practically is the low frequency copy of restored fimction g(f). As PMF SD of... [Pg.251]

The speed of the method comes from two sources. First, all of the macroscopic cells of the same size have exactly the same internal structure, as they are simply formed of tessellated copies of the original cell, thus each has exactly the same multipole expansion. We need compute a new multipole expansion only once for each level of macroscopic agglomeration. Second, the structure of the periodic copies is fixed we can precompute a single transfer... [Pg.461]

In the self-penalty walk (SPW) method of Czerminski and Fiber [Czerminski and Fiber 1990 Nowak et al. 1991] a polymer is constructed that consists of a series of M -F 2 monomers. Fach monomer is a complete copy of the actual system and so there are (M + 2)N atoms present in the calculation. The two ends of the polymer correspond to the two minima between which we are trying to elucidate the pathway (the reactant and the product ). [Pg.305]

The need to obtain color hard copies from electronic systems such as TV and video sets, or from personal computers, has been increasing. Several methods have been proposed to obtain hard copies of full color images. Among them, sublimation thermal-transfer printing has the following characteristics the quaHty of the printed color picture is extremely high, and the equipment is compact, quiet, and easy to manipulate as well as to maintain. [Pg.336]
