Organometallic monomers copolymerization

A large number of vinyl organometallic monomers have been prepared, homopolymer-ized, and copolymerized with classic vinyl monomers by Pittman and others. These include polymers containing Mo, W, Fe, Cr (structure 11.33), Ir, Ru, Ti (structure 11.34), Rh (structure 11.35), and Co. [Pg.374]

Related organometallic monomers, such as the cyclopentadienylchromium complexes, shown as 6.7 and 6.8, have also been homo- and copolymerized, using free radical initiation.7 Here, too, the transition metal in 6.7 generates an electron-rich vinyl group which deactivates the monomer. [Pg.256]

The present book contains nine chapters focusing on the design of imine and phosphorylide catalyst structures, the preparation of cycloaliphatic materials, polar/ nonpolar monomer copolymerizations, organometallic polymerizations in aqueous media, and current frontiers in ROMP and ADMET processes. Exactly forty years after the Nobel Prize for Ziegler and Natta, we give a concise description of the state of the art in these fascinating and rapidly developing fields. The authors present, likewise, viewpoints from the forefront of both academia and industrial research, so that basic science and polymer applications are equally covered. [Pg.343]

The electropolymerization of metallocene-functionalized pyrrole and thiophene has been utilized for the creation of organometallic polypyrroles and polythiophenes.181 241 242 243 Zotti et al. reported the electrochemical homo- and copolymerization of ferrocene-functionalized pyrrole, 177.242 Polymer 179 was prepared via the copolymerization of monomer 177 with pyrrole (Scheme 2.48). This polymer possessed an electrical conductivity of 1.5 X 10-2 S/cm. [Pg.84]

All of these interesting features of the model organometallic monomer raised questions about other n -vinylcyclopentadienyl-transition metal monomers. Could they be synthesized, polymerized, or copolymerized To that end, (n -vinylcyclopentadienyl)tricarbonyl-manganese, 4.(q vinylcyclopentadienyl)dicarbonylnitrosyl-chromium, and 3—vinvl bis f nival anadi iron. war a nr ana... [Pg.245]

Pittman built on the premise that vinyl organometallic monomers might be styrene-like. Special metal-containing vinyl monomers were developed. Thus, acrylates and methacrylates of ferrocene were prepared and their homo- and copolymerizations... [Pg.10]

Ti -Vinylcyclopentadienyl)dicarbonylnitrosyl complexes of chromium and molybdenum (108) have been homo- and copolymerized with a number of organic and organometallic monomers to produce the polymers (109, 110, 112, 113, 115, 116) shown in Scheme 28. [Pg.132]

The synthesis of tailor-made star-shaped polymers can be performed in several ways by means of a plurifunctional organometallic initiator, or by reacting a living precursor polymer with a plurifunctional reagent, to build the centra] body, or by block copolymerization involving a diunsaturated monomer (Scheme 3). [Pg.161]

A large number of studies on the polymerization and copolymerization of tin-containing monomers and the synthesis of new organotin polymers have been reported. In this review article the results are discussed and further ways for research in this interesting and important field of organometallic and polymer chemistry outlined. [Pg.111]
