Kaiser, K., and R. Benner. 2000. Determination of amino sugars in environmental samples with high salt content by high performance anion exchange chromatography and pulsed amperometric detection. Analytical Chemistry 72(ll) 2566-2572. [Pg.119]

An investigation by paper chromatograi y of the products of hydrolysis of a mixed polysaccharide 28) indicated that the mixed poly-s charide contained, in addition to ucose units, repeating units of four amino sugars, two of which were identified as 3-deoxy-3-amino-altrose and 2-deoxy-2-aminoglucose. The 3-aminoaltrose formed was found to be 80% of the total amino sugar content of the hydrolysate. [Pg.103]

Elementary analysis of B substance (G4) showed 41% carbon, 6.6% hydrogen, 5.7% nitrogen, and 7% acetyl. The same sugars and amino sugars were again found, including 17.9% fucose, as well as the same 11 amino acids. However, content of hexosamine was lower (20-22% only) as compared to 33-37% in blood group substances A, H, and Le. ... [Pg.309]

For glycoproteins, the carbohydrate content (neutral sugars, amino sugars, and sialic acids) is determined. In addition, the structure of the carbohydrate chains, the oligosaccharide pattern (antennary profile), and the glycosylation site(s) of the polypeptide chain are analyzed, to the extent possible. [Pg.385]
