Contamination intentional

On discovery of the event, physical evidence should be preserved and protected from contamination (intentional or unintentional) from bystanders and other curious or interested persons. Safety personnel should remain at the event scene to assure the integrity of the evidence. Searching and recovery of evidence should be conducted immediately, with photographs taken of each item. A diagram of the scene and location of evidence should be completed. [Pg.90]

Sihcone contamination has been impHcated as a cause of failure in telephone switching systems and other devices that contain relay switch contacts (507). Analysis of airborne particulates near telephone switching stations showed the presence of siUcones at these locations. Where the indoor use of sihcones is intentionally minimised, outdoor levels were found to be higher than inside concentrations (508). Samples of particulates taken at two New Jersey office buildings revealed sihcone levels that were considerably higher indoors than outdoors. In these cases, indoor sihcone aerosols are beheved to be generated primarily by photocopiers, which use sihcone fuser oils. [Pg.61]

The terms ambient air, ambient air pollution, ambient levels, ambient concentrations, ambient air monitoring, ambient air quality, etc. occur frequently in air pollution parlance. The intent is to distinguish pollution of the air outdoors by transport and diffusion by wind (i.e., ambient air pollution) from contamination of the air indoors by the same substances. [Pg.40]

As well as Design intention achieved together with something else. Flow as well as describes contamination m a pipeline. React as well as covers side reactions. [Pg.993]

A written respiratory protection program is required when necessary to protect the health of the employee from workplace contaminants or when the employer requires the use of respirators. A limited written program is also required when respirators (other than dust masks) are being voluntarily worn by employees. This latest document states It is the intent of the standard that the employer would not be required to incur any costs associated with voluntary use of filtering facepieces other... [Pg.142]

One common combination is a jet and an exhaust hood. The jet can be circular or plane and situated around or in front of a (hot) contaminant source. The intention is to direct the contaminant into a basic opening or a receptor hood. Mostly these jets are directed upward into hoods, but may be directed sideways or downward. There is a difference to jets covering openings. When directed into a hood the jet is intended to help the natural flow into the hood and not to act as a shield, even though it sometimes also has this function. Figure 10.105 illustrates two principal ways that air jets could be used to direct contaminants into a hood (see also Section 10.4.5). [Pg.1006]

A measurement of the contamination of steam by various organic and inorganic materials. Some contamination is inadvertent (e.g. carryover) while some is intentional (e.g., neutralizing amines). [Pg.757]

EPA. 1986b. Extension of the public comment periods on notices of intent to list trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene as potentially toxic air contaminants. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Federal Register 51 9510. [Pg.264]

For the above reasons, EPA s Office of Pesticide Programs has proposed a policy on the procedures for regulating pesticides contaminated with N-nitroso compound 0. Comments from the public and involved parties were invited and will be considered when EPA is preparing its final policy on N-nitroso compounds in pesticides, later in 1981 or early 1982. It is the intent of this paper to discuss l) the proposed policy by EPA 0 the important issues raised during the public comment period and (3) suggest what the final policy might look like. [Pg.385]

The consequences of nonconformities are different for the different categories. Minor nonconformities will be noted and checked at the next assessment but will not normally appear in the written report. Major nonconformities can result in a total suspension of accreditation or suspension of accreditation for particular work. The intentional misuse of the accreditation body logo or mark is considered to be a serious nonconformity. If, after a previous warning, a laboratory continues to issue test reports showing the accreditation logo when the tests are outside the scope of the accreditation it can result in withdrawal of accreditation. Accreditation can be withdrawn for a particular area if it is found that accommodation is inappropriate and it is impossible to avoid cross contamination of samples. [Pg.237]

AS WELL AS Qualitative increase All the design and operating intentions are achieved along with some additional activity, such as contamination of process streams. [Pg.449]

Risk The potential for damage to or loss of an asset. Risk, in the context of process security, is the potential for a catastrophic outcome to be realized. Examples of the catastrophic outcomes that are typically of interest include an intentional release of hazardous materials to the atmosphere, or the theft of hazardous materials that could later be used as weapons, or the contamination of hazardous materials that may later harm the public, or the economic costs of the damage or disruption of a process. [Pg.105]

Caution Avoid drinking unpasteurized milk products and practice good veterinary vaccination practices to avoid natural forms of brucellosis. In a terrorism attack with aerosol, livestock could possibly become contaminated. If this occurs, animal products should be pasteurized, boiled, or thoroughly cooked prior to eating. Water would have to be treated by boiling or iodination after any intentional contamination with brucella aerosols. [Pg.141]
