Construction types

There are basically three construction types for impingement separators ...

For facilities susceptible to nitrocellulose, single base and multibase dusts, the same details could be used with the addition of alternate basic construction types. Six types of construction were chosen which included wood frame, concrete masonry units, reinforced concrete, modified preengineered buildings, fiberglass reinforced plastic and sandwich panels. These were chosen for development of architectural details similar to those mentioned above for nitroglycerin facilities except troweled-on conductive floor lining was to be used instead of lead.

An alternative to comparing yourself against constructed types or profiles is to compare yourself against archetypal characters. An archetype is an original model, a prototype, a universally recurring type. In this sense the Transform/ Sheffield authors saw their levels of management development as archetypes. 

Heat exchangers can be classified in many different ways, such as according to transfer processes, number of fluids, surface compactness, flow arrangements, heat transfer mechanisms, type of fluids (gas-gas, gas-liquid, liquid-liquid, gas-two-phase, liquid-two-phase, etc.), and industry. Photos 13 through 18, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26 and 29/30 on pp. 41 to 52, regarding BW 28 in Kanada 1, would seem to indicate that the assumption that the doors were of the same construction type is correct (cf. illustration 5). 

If even the door construction types that had already been much improved in 1942 were not gas-tight, then this is an additional corroboration of our concluding position. A subject expert could not wish for better counter-evidence. A manufacturer of a much-improved but nonetheless temporary gas-tight door who, even in times of severe steel shortage, declares only all-steel doors to be tmly gas-tight and offers to supply them, can hardly be surpassed as evidence. 

The reactors for the basic propane and n-butane pyrolysis were of monolithic annular quartz construction (Type I reactor). The reaction space was kept virtually isothermal by a surrounding bath of Ottawa sand fluidized vigorously by a stream of nitrogen. Temperature profiles were measured by calibrated Pt-Rh couples in a central thermowell. A description of this type of reactor has been given elsewhere (6). 

The selection or design of a heal exchanger depends on several factors such as the heat transfer rate, cost, pressure drop, size, weight, construction type, materials, and operating environment.

The rotors may be one of several zero-clearance designs, a rigid fixed clearance type, or in the case of tapered rotors, an adjustable clearance construction type (Fig. 16). Having learned the purpose, construction, types, and application of extended surfaces, we proceed now to the main objective of this section, the study of heat transfer from extended surfaces. Because of transversal convection, the temperature in extended surfaces varies longitudinally, and Eq. (2.104) cannot be used directly.
