Concretions origin

In Section IV.A.4, we show what this general model looks like in the case of H electronic states of symmehic tetraatomic molecules. The situation in H states of asymmetric tetraatomics is briefly discussed in Section IV.B, where we present the handling of a concrete case, the X Uu state of the HCCS radical. For A states the reader is referred to original references [18,149,150,153]. 

L v ndin. Lavandin, Lavandula hjbrida as a plant species is of recent origin, unknown until the late 1920s. It is a hybrid of two common lavenders, l vandula officinalis and l vandula latifolia. Lavandin is cultivated mainly ia southern France and has become one of the most produced and used natural perfumery materials. The flowering tops of the shmb are used to produce a concrete, an absolute, and a steam-distilled oil the last is by far the most used. Low cost and refreshing odor quaUty allow lavandin to be employed ia a wide variety of perfume appHcations and at high concentrations. Chemically it is comprised of 30—32% linalool (3) and linalyl acetate (1), along with numerous other substances, mosdy terpenic. 

At the end of each month, the field cost engineer collects all current information on a detailed cost report form. As these are actual costs, they can be used to estimate future job costs to completion. Daily reports of unit-cost progress for concrete, excavation, masonry, steel, piping, and electrical work, etc., are then used to predict possible overruns or underruns for the various items. Analysis and comparison with the original estimate point out trouble spots for early attention. If an item is running into difficulty, it is red-flagged to the resident and projec t engineers for remedial action. 

Tannin-containing woods also darken with ammonia, a process which is usefully employed in darkening oak furniture by fuming . Ammonia stains can originate from animal glue, amino-type adhesives and concrete additive sources, particularly where damp conditions exist. 

The original perforated collector pipes in landfills were made of concrete like those used in highway underdrain systems. As landfills became higher, the strength of such pipes became inadequate. Today, perforated PVC pipes are commonly used, as are HDPE pipes. New regulations require that all materials be tested for chemical resistance as part of the permit-approval process. 

Gamma radiation has a very high penetrating power. A small fraction of the original stream will pass through several feet of concrete or several meters of air. The specific ionization of a gamma is low compared to that of an alpha particle, but is higher than that of a beta particle.

A gravity sewer pipe with a diameter D=0.5 m and a slope s=0.003 m m-1 is flowing half full under stationary conditions, i.e., the DO concentration is constant and equal to about 0.3 g02 m-3. The pipe is made of concrete, and the roughness is 1.0 mm. The sewer is an interceptor and serves a separate sewered catchment. The wastewater originates from domestic sources and has a temperature of T= 15°C. The characteristics of the wastewater are approximately as depicted in Figure 3.10, i.e., the potential process rates for the aerobic transformations are relatively high. Only aerobic processes in the water phase are considered in the example.
