Composites of polyester

Many substances can serve as the stationary phase for gas chromatographic separations of methyl esters in most cases polyester, polyether, or silicone greases are used. Percival (18) has investigated the composition of polyesters by methanolysis with sodium methyl oxide. The dimethyl esters of the dicarboxylic acids present in the composition and free glycols are formed and subsequently are separated at temperatures between 110° and 180° C. on a column of GE silicone SF-96 and Fluoropak 80. It should be possible to adapt this method to the analysis of polyesters used as plasticizers. [Pg.113]

A Carson City, Nevada, company is marketing a noise wall that contains recycled rubber tires and recycled plastics. The wall s shell is made of a pultruded thermosetting composite of polyester and glass, and the fill section is made of ground, recycled plastics and rubber tires... [Pg.126]

The situation changes significantly in the case of strains like C. necator, where autocatalytic growth of biomass is followed by a phase of linear PHA production. In this case, biomass production should occur in the first step in a CSTR which is coupled to a subsequent plug flow reactor (PFR). The combination CSTR-PFR not only ensures higher productivity, but also minimizes the loss of substrates and co-substrates. Furthermore, product quality can be enhanced by the fact that the PFR features a narrow residence time distribution, leading to higher uniformity of cell populations. This should also have positive impacts on the distribution of the PHA molecular masses and the composition of polyesters [128]. [Pg.160]

In the earlier Nestehous , Concept House of Neste, Finland, the development of new on-site processing techniques were aimed at. Concrete casting moulds that stayed on the construction site were prepared from GFRP composites of polyester and they were used to prepare concrete rebars (prepared with concrete and PP fibres) used as the main load bearing material in the house. [Pg.345]

It is generally accepted that the structure and the chemical composition of polyester hard segments have influence on the rate of synthesis, molecular weight, crystallization rate, elastic recovery, as well as tensile and tear strength. The hard segments structure affects primarily mechanical and processing properties, while the structure of the soft segments influences physical and chemical properties. It is known that the poly(ether ester)s... [Pg.394]

The energy required to initiate an explosion and the maximum explosive pressure developed by a number of polyester—epoxy powder coatings has been studied in some detail (89). The variables studied included composition, level and type of pigmentation, particle size, and concentration in air. The lowest MEG for unfilled and unpigmented powders was 33—35 g/m. ... [Pg.326]

Unsaturated polyester resins predominate among fiber-reinforced composite matrices for several reasons. A wide variety of polyesters is available and the composites fabricator must choose the best for a particular appHcation. The choice involves evaluation of fabrication techniques, temperatures at which the resin is to be handled, cure time and temperature desked, and requked cured properties (see Polyesters, unsaturated). [Pg.18]

Ease of cure, easy removal of parts from mold surfaces, and wide availabiHty have made polyesters the first choice for many fiber-reinforced composite molders. Sheet mol ding compound, filament winding, hand lay-up, spray up, and pultmsion are all weU adapted to the use of polyesters. Choosing the best polyester resin and processing technique is often a challenge. The polyester must be a type that is weU adapted to the processing method and must have the final mechanical properties requked by the part appHcation. Table 1 Hsts the deskable properties for a number of fiber-reinforced composite fabrication methods. [Pg.18]

Increasing the molecular weight of polyester (or polyether) or changing its chemical composition could lower the Tg of the TPU and decrease the crystallinity of the polymer. For example, a TPU composed of poly(S-lactone), MDI, and 1,4-butanediol was found to have the lowest degree of crystallinity and, therefore, the best compatibility with PVC when the hard segment in it is 36% by weight [10]. [Pg.139]
